Babys head is still just floating about, the midwife said its maybe cos I've got alot of water and his head is just bobbing about

Anyway, I've got a birthing ball at home and I know you can use it to encourage the baby to move further down - but how? :? Do I just sit on it or move side to side or what?

Im a bit worried that when they break my waters on Sunday I might suffer from prolapsed cord as the babys head is still high. I know they'll have it all under control but I still worry

You can bounce on it, move side to side, back and forward and round in circles, thats what i have been doing.

Just bouce on it like crazy for about 20 mins of you can handle it! you can get a bit dizzy!

I sat on one at my antenatal class yesterday and i didnt like it. I could feel the top of my uterus pressing hard right up into my ribs. also the trousers i was wearing didnt have much give in them so they were quite tight when sitting on the ball (not like i was going to take them off in a room full of people lol)

i'v just been kinda gently bouncing on mine, keeping my legs as wide apart as poss to give LO extra room to burrow down :)

Thanks, I'll try sitting on it for a while every day and hopefully LO should move down a bit

i got mine from tescos not gonna use it yet as my lo is not breech, seeing mw on tues :)

Hi

Ive never used it but hope it helps you hun
Katrina

I find mine very comfortable, I use it while watching TV and sometimes here at the computer!

Just bounce about like on a space hopper! :)

I have to have my legs open on mine too as i cant get comfy and fall off mine!
My baby isnt breech anyway but im hoping to strengthan up my back and pelvic muscles before giving birth.
I just use it for 20 mins a day and thats it.

Im not trying to actually make the baby turn cos he isnt breech, he's head down.

Its just that I've got alot of fluid so his head is just floating in and out of my pelvis and its not engaged so Im trying to encourage him to settle his head right down :)

I have found knealing behind mine and kind of laying over it wrapping my arms round it is really comfortable. I put it on the bed to do it or you get carpet burns on your knees (them were the days!... :D )

I think this movement may help you to get the baby to move down.... as my yoga teacher recommended a move called the cat which is where you are on all fours and tilt your pelvis slowly forward and backwards so your back arches and oh lord.. what ever the opposite of arching is (my brain is fried at the moment - I cannot remember anything today! ) But using your ball for support would be a great alternative and not put too much pressure on your back

i found the birthing ball in the hospital good for when i was in labour. Bouncing up and down when i had a contraction really helped me deal with the pain  good luck hun
