Charlie is looking a bit big for her moses basket and the cot is all made up and beckoning...

It's too big for our room so she would have to go into her own room. So at what age can you do that??

Also I have put her in it for e few minutes before I change her but she just ends up screaming..... am I making bad associations by doing this? Do you need to get them used to the cot or just stick them in it when you're ready??

Many thanks :)

When Maia grew out of her basket I used a travel cot in our room with a bassinet, our cot was too big for our room too. Maia slept in our room till she was 3 months then she went into her cot, this was by pure accident that we decided to do this but she was so much more content and happy in there she started to sleep through from then onwards :D I kept both bedroom doors open so I could hear her and still have them both a jar now so I can hear her.

To get her used to her cot I always used to put her in from day 1. Our changing things have always been in her bedroom so we always used to change her in her room, when I had finished I would lay her in her cot whilst I went to wash my hands in the bathroom, I would put her mobile on to keep her entertained whilst I was away so she didn't cry. As she got more used to it I started to put her down in her cot for her naps.

A friend of mine used to put her baby into the basket then put the basket into the cot to help get used to the cot. I think it would be better for baby if you tried to get your LO used to the cot it would be a big shock to go straight into cot without it being familiar first. I never find it easy to have a good nights sleep if im in a strange bed.

I would carry on putting your LO into the cot when you change her nappy but try after you have changed as she may be crying because she wants her nappy changing?

I put the moses basket in the cot for a couple of nights, then used some bendy bumpers to make the matress space of the cot smaller and continued to expand them until he didn't need them. It was as if he didn't notice the change in bedroom/ bed.

Good luck!

I just banged him in it the night after getting out of his 2nd stay in hospital for his milk allergy n reflux. He was in a big cot there, so, just stuck him in his in his own room and had done with it. He was fine :)

We put Tom's moses basket in to his cot for a few nights and then moved him out of the moses basket in to the cot.
It seemed to work!

at 8 weeks India went into her cot. i always had her sleep on a sleep positioner thing, and when i moved her into her cot, just put her on that so she'd feel the same.

never had any problems. she was fine, was just me thinking she wouldnt be!
