I cant get J to take it! He spits it everywhere. At present i am administering with a syringe (is that what its called? not a needle but where you suck up the liquid and then squirt it out).

If i lie him back he gurgles it and chokes and cant seem to breathe for a minute, very scary, but if i give it to him upright he just spits it straight back out.

Put the syringe to the side in his mouth so you are in effect putting it into his cheek that way it won't choke him or make him gag and syringe it slowly in small doses not all at once also if he had dummy pop that in the sucking will make him swallow

Thanks cazzlou i will try that.

lilelephant, a normal spoon or a plastic one? Do you sterilise each time?

We use a syringe for calpol but gripe water used to choke Jack so we used to put the dose in an empty bottle and tip it all into the teat and he used to drink it that way. It wasted a bottle but we have 12! lol Not much use if you're BFing though. You can also get dummies that will administer the medicine as they suck, not sure how affective they are though and again no good if you don't use dummies x
