Had my apointment today to get my induction date. I'm not happy as they have given me the 12th of Feb which will be a full 14 days over or 19 days by my dates :( I really thought they would have took me in the Friday before which would have been 11 days over. She did give my a sweep though so thats one good thing. If the sweep is gonna work how long does it usually take?

iirc i think 83% of women who have a sweep go into labour within 48 hours :cheer:

Hi Kellie

Ive got my hozzie appointment next wednesday for the same reason - I'll be 40 weeks plus 8 days then

How was the sweep - I've heard they can be pretty nasty!!

I didn't think the sweep was that bad to be honest. Maybe slightly worse than a smear. Don't know if its done anything. I have had a bit of bloody show but they said thats normal and i have been getting some quite strong pains so i've got my fingers crossed that they stay. Not that hopeful though.

sorry but what is a sweep?? sounds very interesting

A stretch and sweep she called it. She ran her fingers round the inside of the cervix to seperate it from the membranes. She also said it may release the hormones that trigger labour.

Hope it works for you hunny

Where do you actually go when you are in labour? Nobody's shown me, I only know the day unit and the clinic :?

You know what, I haven't a clue! I was induced with Aimee so i was in the ward and i can't remember much after that and my eldest was born in Chester. I'll let you know whan i find out. Unless you find out first.

Have you not been offered a tour either? I dont even know if we take our own birth balls or they have them there :?

MW has ticked that antenatal classes etc has been discussed. I hardly think a brief "Oh you can attend antenatal classes here's a list of where they are" constitutes a discussion.
