This has probably been asked before but I am wondering

a) WHEN to pack my bag

and

b) what to put in it!!!

Can any of you recommend something that maybe doesn't seem obvious but you found useful??

Thanks!!
xx

I packed mine at about 34 weeks initially then added to it as I went along. I actually packed 3 bags!

A labour bag - rucksack, with clothes, maternity pads, fan, snacks etc.

Baby's bag - changing bag, with all her clothes, nappies, muslins etc.

Overnight bag - mini suitcase, with pjs, undies, dressing gown etc.

I would recommend a lightweight dressing gown, slippers, dark coloured towel in particular.

For labour, I found a handheld fan to be invaluable as I was so hot throughout - it was the only thing that I actually took out of my labour bag!

My OH also packed a rucksack with food, toothbrush and a change of clothes.

I would also recommend getting those ice pack things in the freezer at home in case you need stitches.

I packed mine a few weeks ago...

Things I've put in which aren't on the usual lists is
Teatrea oil
lavender oil
Arnica cream and
bach Rescue remedy

I dunno if i shall use any of them but saw them suggested and thought yeah thats a good idea actually!

Towards the end of my pregnancy, I put a bottle of water in the freezer, and put a flannel in the bag. The bottle of frozen water was a godsend in labour, my o/h kept putting the flannel round it, and then putting the cold flannel on my head as we didn't have access to cold water in the labour room.

I also took straws with me, which made it a bit easier to drink when I was in labour.

xxx
