Hind Milk....

Hey girls Just a quick question... does anyone know how long it takes for the hind milk to kick in? I'm a tad worried that Layla might not be getting enough hind milk on some of her shorter feeds... xx

I was told after about 5 minutes but surely it depends on how quickly they feed..? How long does she normally feed for?

oh goodness... she can feed anything from 5 mins to an hour! It's with her shorter feeds (that the HV says are "drinks" rather than "food") that I am worried about - especially at the moment as she has been having a growth spurt and the shorter feeds have cropped up quite a bit therefore making her poop more green than yellow :-S xx

I'm not sure how long it takes but wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as she is putting on enough weight I wouldn't think its an issue.
My little one is a quick feeder and only ever eats for about 10 (max 15) min at a time!

i sometimes use the same breast if amelia has had a short feed to make sure she is getting the more nutritious hind milk x

My LO is a short feeder to (big on gulping, heheh) and drains both boobs more or less every time within 15/20 mins and shes a chubby little thing
