Highlighting hair and preg

I'm booked in to have a half head of highlights on Thurs but (if still no AF that's 6 days late or better still BFP) is it safe if pregnant? Stylist said yes it was fine but she's not a doc is she. Worth a call to NHS Direct?

Its fine to have highlights as long as it's with foil as no hair dye touches your skin x

I'm sure I had all sorts of dye's bleach on my head in all my pregs. Was always told it was fine x

A close friend is a hairdresser, she told me when i asked about mine, that as the bleach with highlights doesn't touch the skin, it's fine.

When I asked about normal colour (full head type), she said no.

Get your highlights, and fingers crossed for a BFP announcement soon hun.

I sooo want to go crazy with my hair colour but i don't know if i can do roots again.

It would be way too early, although i wouldn't later on - pregnancy does some crazy things to your hair and i've heard of peroxide drying it out so much that the hair just snaps and falls out in some people.

It depends on the individual, but you won't know until your bald if your one of the unlucky few

I just couldnt give up doing stuff to my hair!! I spent last night curling it, with a horrid really hot curling wand that dries it out and makes it snap! Not good, but so much more effective than the 'good for your hair' ones. I need my roots doing too. Am thinking of something more dramatic for winter as hair just looks so dull. I might go v blond highlights. Such fun!

Yes, go for it. I have had highlights through my pregnacy. My hair dress is my cousin and there is no way she would risk things. She did say she wouldn't colour my whole hair though.

I'm a hairdresser and aslong as a skin sensitivity test is done 48-72 hours b4 then full head dye is fine. I've coloured mine today and I did notice my scalp was slightly more sensitive but nothin to worry about xx

Shall I mention to my hairdresser I'm ttc/poss pg? That way she def won't take it too close to my scalp.
