High risk pregnancy :( gestational hypertension in asthmatics?

I'm thinking of waiting at least another week for the scan, part of me wants it the sooner the better part of me thinks the longer I wait the more likely there will be improvement to see.

We'd always said if we had children we'd like at least two but now I'm having my first at 33 I wouldn't want to leave a big gap before trying again and, well, after this pregnancy I'm not sure if I could face the idea with a LO under 3. It's not been a total nightmare but I think looking after a toddler too might tip the balance!

If you have a good support system around you hun it's not too bad. If you have family / friends close by who could help maybe? All pregnancies are different they say & so far this has deffinately been a lot different from the start of my other. I hope things improve for you hun and that your scan shows some good news <3 I'll be looking out for updates hun xxxx

Just a quick update here x my BP was doing really well and stayin fairly low :D it has risen a bit again and the docs thinks I may already have GD so am being tested in 2 weeks x I have to discuss my birth plan with the doctor also & have a load more appointments booked but I would rather this than be left with no support xxx hope you are doing okay bunny xxxx

Not sure how I missed this thread before! I have essential hypertension that worsens in pregnancy. I am currently taking labetalol which is just about keeping it around the 130/80 mark but just like last time, the more pregnant I get, the higher it's going :(

I've also just been diagnosed with GD which in truth has upset me a lot. I was told at the beginning of the month that my GTT was clear but when my midwife checked the results for herself at my 32 week app yesterday she found that they were in fact positive (8.4). There is some query about whether or not the labetalol affected my test as even though I did the pre-requisite fast beforehand I continued to take my medication. With my last pregnancy I was taking methyldopa for my bp and my GTT was clear. Either way, GD or meds my blood sugar is now too high :(

I'm thoroughly fed up of being pregnant now if I'm honest. Roll on the next 7 weeks, assuming I'm not induced or sectioned early of course!

Aww hun sorry to hear you're having so many problems xxx I'm really glad the labetalol is working for you, I have no idea what they'll end up giving me this time in all honesty but it's the meds that worry me more than the high blood pressure :( I that makes any sense? I have a GTT in a week or so, hoping it comes back okay but to be fair it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't x hope they manage to figure out what's happening hun & that they look after you xxx

inky- sorry to hear you have been having a hard time, I hope the next 7 weeks go well for you.

LYLLJellyTots- Things are going quite well thanks, sorry I hadn't updated you, I've not been on much recently. I had another scan today and the problem with the separation in the placenta wasn't showing so that's good news. I still need to see the doctor but it looks like I'll be able to go back to some gentle exercise :). Took my bp at my mum's house a couple of days ago and it was 125/75 which is down a bit so I'm happy about that too. Also the MS is finally gone which is a great relief!

Glad to hear you are doing a lot better hun <3 the gentle exercise will help with the blood pressure too so that's good x so glad the placenta problem has healed it self <3 xxx take it easy and enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can Hun xxx

I see the consultant again soon so I am going to be asking a lot of questions re blood pressure medications xx

I went to docs yesterday. I was happy that my bp was down a bit the last few times I had measured it at home, and was looking forward to seeing what I got on my chart this time. Unfortunately I had a reaction to someones perfume in the waiting room and went into an asthma attack. I almost had to leave but they let me wait in another place and the attack had just about calmed down by the time the nurse saw me but my pulse was still racing and my bp was 150/91 :-/. The doc was a bit freaked out when he saw it but the nurse explained about the attack and that my heart rate was almost 150 too so he decided it didn't require drastic action. Of course if I take my rescue inhaler the attack stops right away but it pushes my heart rate and bp up for hours afterwards so I try to avoid it and let the attack calm down on it's own when I'm able. Anyhow now I have 150/91 on my chart so I have a feeling I'm going to need to explain it to all the medical staff I see in future. The joys of balancing asthma and high bp :).

I understand your concerns now i've read this..that's a lot to go through!!
but having said this..you seem amazingly strong!..and it goes to show that these little babies are strong too..i'm all for thinking positive now!! A post with a happy ending will touch so many of us.
How is you Bp now? and do you have GD?

xxx

Heya chick, so far my BP has been stable and my GTT results have come back as perfect =D See positive thinking lol x I have had a lot of other problems going on, was in hospital last week etc but I'm not going to focus on them and scare you etc, so far we are doing well, the doctors have told me I might be able to deliver naturally (or at least try) and Jellytot is growing well =D we're having a girl! I'm still in shock! x

I have another GTT booked at 28 weeks and my BP is being monitored very closely x I can argue with the doctors more this time if I need to because of my experiences last time. Like I said hun knowledge is power and the more you can prepare yourself the better :D When are you thinking of trying?? xxx

We was going to try back in Aug but i've been having problems  and its only now that the hospital are treating me....they 'think' its all due to Group B strep!..i was swabbed and it showed up so being treated with Antibiotics..next check is 3rd Feb so once i have the all clear i will try then :)
