I have been diagnosed with High grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HGSIL) from my pap smear test, wich means theres a change on my cervix cells and I'm at risk of having Cervical Cancer. I went for Biopsy and Lletz to get those cells removed. Last month I went for my follow up test, so I'm still waiting for the pap smear results to see if they've been removed. I'm so worried cos I recently found out that I'm pregnant. This is my first baby and first pregnancy so you can imagine the happiness, since there might be chances of me not being able to concieve as time goes, should this develop into cancer. Is this pregnancy at risk? Had anyone been in a similar situation?

Argh I just wrote a huge reply to this and lost it stupid phone!

I had CIN2 abnormal cells in 2012, I'm not sure how that compares to what you had but the treatment was the same, biopsy followed by LLETZ to remove the affected area. About a week after my treatment I got my BFP, it turned out I had been about2 weeks pregnant when I had it done without knowing! I was very worried that it might have harmed the baby or that I would go into labour early but I'm happy to say he was absolutely fine and I carried him to full term, and also my second baby 3 years later. I've now had clear smears for the past 4 years :)

I think a lot depends on what they actually removed and the location of it, the best thing to do is talk it over with your midwife and the colposcopy unit that carried out your procedure. You will probably be referred to consultant led care during your pregnancy and they can measure your cervix to check if it's likely to cause any issues, if it is then they would take good care of you and baby, but hopefully you won't have any problems.

I remember the anxious wait for results to check they've removed it all very well, the good thing is you went for your test and they caught any potential problems very early before they developed into anything more serious. And they should keep a close eye on you in future with yearly smears :)

Good luck Hun and congratulations on your pregnancy xxx
