He's measuring full term already!!! SCAN NEWS!

Hi All,

Well i had my scan today. It was just for the survey people at the hospital to do research. They wanted to measure blood flow through the liver.

But the money who was quiet all morning Which is unusal) would not co-operate. He was moving so much i was there for about 30-45 mins and he wouldn't stop moving. So they gave up!

He is such an active baby its not surprising he is never still!

Anyways they did a few measurements while they were waiting for him to settle down and his head and tummy are measuring 39-39+5 weeks!



His EDD was coming up at may 25th! And weight at the moment as 7lb 10oz +/- 14oz. She said it fits in right with the last scan when he was 34 weeks and measuring 36/37.

How scary is that. If he stays in till the 13th of June he'll be a whopper! I got one pic but not that good as he is so big.

So what do we think? He will either be born early or if he doesn't want to come out will be a giant....

I was gonna ask you how the scan went!

I wouldnt be surprised if you had him anytime now, in fact I think you will! I'll be very jealous but so excited for you!!

Have midwife tomorrow so hopefully he is still engaged and maybe showing signs of coming soon!

maybe youll have him early. did they put ur EDD back at ur first scan? was ur LMP date earlier? if so it may be right after all

Hiya,

My date by LMP is 9th June. My date by my 7 week scan is 13th June.

My other scans have ranged from 6th - 13th. But they have never nothered changing my date as they say it gives more time if i go overdue to decide what to do!

So i hope he comes sooner rather than later!

Well last time i told the midwife that he was measuring big at the scan she just said they normally leave you as long as they to see what happens!

I have decided though if he isn't here by the 13th i will kick up a fuss. If he is growing the same he will be around 42 weeks size then so i will really be pain and try and get induced.

The prroblem is the scan people and midwifes have different opinions and don't listen to eachother!

But i have MW tomorrow morning so i will point out the fact that he is big! Again!

Interesting that your LO was measuring bigger than dates. I often wonder how they work these dates out.

How did you get on at the MW appointment?

Hi Sabrina,

It's funny how they do it. They measure loads of bit of baby. Like head circumference, femur length and abdominal circumference. They do it during the scan and you can see by the measurements what gestation they give the baby. I wonder what they use a 'control'. I mean i was coming up at 39/40 weeks last wednesday and the weight was coming up as 7lb 10oz. So i suppose that is about what they class a term baby as.

Don't know who or how they came up with that though?

I posted about midwife as i ended up over the hospital having a trace that day Everything ok now though.

She didn't at all seem concerned about his size and i don't have to see her until the 1st of June in 2 weeks!

Which has annoyed me now as anything could happen before then

I sympathise with your frustration as I'm also waiting to find out about my ECG trace results, more news on the baby's size and (hopefully) get the consultants word on whether I'll have an early CS or not. I just want it all to hurry up now especially as I'm sat at home bored.

I'm confused by all the measurements they take at the scan too. I was given an estimate of the weight 4 weeks ago but it was only about 2.5lbs. I'm having another growth scan tomorrow so I'll be really interested to see what they say then.

hun at least it's in 2 weeks... my next widwife appt is after my due date

I wouldn't worry too much about his size hun its not to bad having a big baby. Just make sure you take bigger clothes into hospital with you cos newborn don't go near them. I was measuring about 6 weeks ahead and he was born weighing 9lb 5oz and I must say it was my easiest birth out of the 3 and I never needed stiches. They were quite happy to leave me 2 go 2 weeks over though so I'm at least thankful that I didn't have to get induced, he would of been at least 10lb. Good luck!
