Hi Ladies

I hope it's ok to post this here. Apologies,if it is the wrong place. It's been a very long time since I have logged on.

I was TTC for nearly two years, with no success. My DH and I had all the NHS tests. They all came back normal, so we were told we had unexplained infertility, and that once we had been trying for two years, if we were still unsuccessful, we would be referred for IVF.

I had raised concern with both my GP and consultant on numerous occasions that I was spotting brown blood between ovulation and my period and that 90% of my period every month was also brown blood. They said that as my period was regular, this was not an issue.

I didn't agree. Brown blood is old blood, so how would a baby be able to implant?! I decided to try herbal medicine as a last resort, before we were referred for IVF. The herbalist doctor agreed that brown blood was not conducive to a healthy pregnancy and that whilst I was bleeding brown blood I would never fall pregnant. She also said that as my feet, hands and nose were always cold, so too would my uterus - hence the brown blood.

She gave me 5ml of herbal medicine to take in the morning and 5 ml in the evening. After 3 weeks of the medicine, I had my first red blood period since coming off the pill nearly 2 years previous! She then gave me a new herbal medicine. I fell pregnant that month and have just had my 12 week scan.

I'm not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but just thought that if only helpful to even one of you lovely ladies, was worth the post.

Good luck everyone!

xx

Congratulations Pip!

I too have brown spotting before AF shows and then mainly brown old blood through the period. I've been having Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine for a while now for various things and the last 2 months (although still having the spotting) I have had lots of bright red blood and more pain! I'm classing it as the therapy is working.

I've also just received my confirmation letter for referral of IVF. The centre I'm applying for also has an alternative therapy consultant there offering acupuncture and herbal medicine, so I'm hoping that will be included too and I can carry on.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy hon x

I love hearing success stories like this. Sometimes the nhs can be so closed minded to anything that isn't in their text books and are quick to draw conclusions on what can and can't happen. Nature isn't an exact science.

Congratulations and wish you all the very best in your pregnancies xxx
