My 2 year old son has gone from eating everything to eating practically nothing!

Normally for breakfast he would have eaten porridge and toast. Today he ate a babybel cheese.
Normally for lunch he would eat pittas/ pasta/ sandwiches. Today he ate a babybel cheese.
Dinner is the same story.

Everything I set infront of him he says he doesn't like. I have tried bribing, making him something different, offering nothing else so he is hungry for the next meal... Nothing seems to be working. I normally panic before bedtime and give him a bowl of porridge (which he will eat with a lot of encouragement) but he can't live on cheese on porridge!

Any ideas??

Persevere and keep offering him a variety.

I remember reading that they can go through phases like this..

I have a super fussy eater (he doesn't even like chips... or ice cream!!) but every meal I offer a little bit of fruit or salad or veg.

Today he ate some watermelon and some salmon. This is unheard of.. and he reverted to his fussy ways later.

We have ongoing issues though. I am hopeful for you this is just a phase.

My 2 yo is terribly fussy too. It's really getting me down! I've tried so many things and nothing really works. I vowed I wouldn't bribe him with tv but I've started doing that lately. It sometimes works but only for one or two mouthfuls. He's been like this since about 16 months and its just been getting worse. All I can say is it's encouraging your lo has been good up until now. It's likely just a phase that'll pass. Maybe he's teething? It would explain him wanting soft things like cheese and porridge xx

Am quite sure they get a couple of molars at the back, my sons even though at just two he was mega early getting all his teeth already the last two took forever and came in bits so he'd go off food then eat a little better and go off again.. Now he's really finished and the moment they stopped bothering him he started eating more with less fuss.. Sometimes he's really not hungry and I wait a little until he starts showing signs of hunger.. at times he does eat apples and other bits and then he doesn't so I offer him something else.. I'm just giving some toddler milk for now until he establishes a really good eating pattern with enough varierty and fruit and vegs :)
