Hi all. Just wondering what the Nhs is like with helping concieve if you already have a child?

I have pcos and was put on metformin which helped me concieve DS. I've been on metformin since jan 2013 but no luck yet. Recent blood tests show I didn't ovulate. So he said the next step was chlomid but I have to wait a bit longer.

Thanks in advance xxx

Hey hun, help is pretty limited on the NHS unfortunately. We're just starting treatment again and you get the consultations and investigations on the NHS, then clomid but that's it. At my hosp you have to pay for scans if already have a child.

I think different places may vary slightly but iui or IVF would have to be paid for, which is what we're planning to do later this year.

Do you still get regular periods?
Xxx

Pretty regular yes. Roughly 34/35 days. Been told to lose weight and come back. So next few months I will be ntnp and focusing on losing weight. I had no periods/ovulation first time round when ttc but metformin helped. It hasn't seemed to work this time. So a little gutted.xx

Hi I am in a similar position and was wondering the same things. It is annoying that it is a postcode lottery as what one of us is offered another might not be!

Blondy13 - what sort of scans did you have to pay for and what area do you live in? Debating over the next few months whether we bother waiting on the Nhs to be told there is no help. When my gp put my referral in she said she didn't know what we would be entitled to, so might be quite a long wait to find out that we don't get anything funded and should have gone to a private clinic months before.

So confusing and doesn't seem much clear info online. I am in Norfolk so East of England PCT, I have tried to find out online what might be available in this area but doesn't seem to be any clear info available.

Good luck to you both x x

My pct, south East Essex, had paid for all investigations and if it was appropriate I would have 3 months of clomid (don't know about the tracking scans however) but that's all. It's tough isn't it xx
