Im shattered! I just dont seem to be getting any sleep at all and im finding it really hard! We dont seem to be getting in to much of a feeding pattern and im not sure where im going wrong.... any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I usuallly put my boy down to sleep at around 9pm, sometimes he doesnt actually go to sleep until around 11pm, depends what kind of mood hes in. He doesnt usually have much difficulty actually getting to sleep by himself which is good. He then wakes up again for a breast feed at around 1, 3, 5 and 7. The thing is, at some point between 3 and 5 he wakes and just cries and wiggles about and sounds like he is in pain, maybe gas? It always seems to be around the same time, and its really hard to get him back to sleep again. So really, between 3 and 7 i get pretty much no sleep.
Now my OH has gone away for two weeks, and im just finding it really hard to do by myself =(
any ideas?

Hi,
No advice really, just to say I'm having similar problems and give you a hug
I've tried Ione on infacol over the last week and it seemed to stop her straining in the night and we even managed a one or two nights with one feed at 4 - 5am, but that didn't last and this morning she woke up at 2.30am and at 5.50am for a feed and was so windy afterwards she wouldn't go back to sleep until 8ish, so I don't know if the infacol is really working and I might try Colief.

Also, my husband went away for 6 days a few weeks ago and I know how hard it can be those first few nights on your own, I promise it gets easier though - it's amazing what you can get used to. I have the ultimate respect for single mums!

  i have the same problem with Charlotte waking after the 3am feed screaming in pain so i am getting no sleep from 3 either so i sympathise and wish i had the solution! we have tried everything and i think it is trapped wind in her tummy doing it

sorry i cant help but so you know you are no alone

Hi guys,

No magic here, I'm afraid, just things that worked for me... Burp baby good and proper, requires patience, but they always burp in the end! A good massage before bed and after a warm bath - using baby oil and rubbing tummy gently first in one direction in circles and then in the other. i am told this helps digestion. Finally for the screamng in the middle of the night, place baby face down along your arm, with head in the crook of your arm, and rub tum gently with your hand for a few mins. Seems to calm the pain of the wind... hope this helps you girls, dont despair, it gets better

thanks for your replies.... sounds like we could all use a little extra sleep!
I will definitely give the massage a go tonight after bath time. hopefully that will relax him more and help him sleep better.
mamichuli, do you know if there is anything similar to colief available in spain? i might take a walk up to the phjarmacy later on and ask, but just wondering if there is something that you used.
he still seems really uncomfortable this morning, and when he is awake he just cries and cries. poor little thing, imjust not used to seeing him like this :(

When my older children were small there was somthing called "aerored gotas" which was for trapped gas. It worked for Victor, but I am not sure that the doctors recommend it any more. Maybe you should give your pediatrician a call and ask...I hope LO feels better with the tum rubs - let us know how it goes

It does sound like wind, but if you're winding him then I really don't know why he would be in pain, colic? reflux?

I know Isaac used to scream a lot when he was younger, and still sometimes does now, he did/does it because he's tired, he seems to think he has to sometimes be V upset before he can sleep.

I do hope he starts staying settled for you, he may also just miss you and want a cuddle? Very best wishes flower

Hi ya hun, just a suggestion even though I maybe way off the mark here. Have you tried doing some kind of bedtime routine for your little one, i.e getting your little man to have a bath around 6/7 then a nice massage, a feed and then try to put him down, until his next feed which which would be what 3/4 hrs later?? Obviously this may not work at first but should you perserver for a few days then maybe he'll catch on. Also do you give your little one a dummy? If not it could be that he may just want to suckle to make him more restful?
From what you posted it didn't seem like it was colic just a bit restless, is that right.
Either way hope things settle down for you, it does get better!

Oh what a week im having! OH is still away... and I still cant seem to get little one to sleep at all at night! I just cant figure out what it is that is keeping him up. Ive tried all the suggestions, I give him a bath at around 7.30, give him a little massage, then lay him down to sleep. He is usually okay for the first couple of hours. But then, as soon as it is time for me to go to bed, thats it!He is awake on average every hour. Sometimes he is hungry , sometimes he is just groaning and wining, and crying a bit, but not crying as though he had colic. So i have to pick him and carry him around for a while then settle him back in his basket. Then he will usually go back to sleep but be up again about 45 minutes later! Poor thing, i just wish i knew what it was so i could help him!
Hopefully its just a phase and he will back to being himself soon!
thanks for all the advice x

  sorry you are having a hard time still PM me if you wanna chat anytime x

Just wanted to say flower that if you start a 'routine' for him, give it a few days to a couple of weeks to kick in, you know what you're doing but it may take him a while to learn it
Isaac's never been a sleepy baby and so I can understand the frustration at their waking a lot, but if you take a deep breath, stay calm and relaxed, it should make it all a more pleasant experience for you both
