Hi Girls,

I'm bit worried about my long cycles at the moment, I initially didn't think they were an issue but now i'm not sure?

My cycles are 38 days and my OV is CD 25, does anyone else have this?

Or even better has anyone got a BFP with a similar cycle??

Thanks..

Maybe baby xx

No i don't, but my clear blue fertility monitor is suitable for cycles lengths between 21 and 42 days long so that implies to me that between this range is considered normal.

I don't really see what it would matter if you are ovulating and have a sufficient luteal phase which you do :)

Plus you've been pregnant before, everything that i've read implies that is the hard bit and carrying to full term is just a matter of time.

Thanks Louise,

I've just got worried as I've read OV later than day 20 can cause M/C as the egg is too old and the lining of the uterus is too.

I'm worried I'll m/c again too.

I'm not giving up on things, just need a bit of reassurance! xx

That 'old egg' thing is a really really tiny player in the scheme of what can affect you. I absloutely promise that the chance of it causing a miscarriage are hundreds and hundreds to one.

My friend had 40 day cycles and went through that same concern and, as she didnt believe the first specialist that told her it wasn't going to affect her, she went to see two more! (She has more money than sense that one!). Only after 3 expensive London specialists told her she wouldnt get a miscarriage from an 'older' egg did she relax. Her boy is 3 now, and super healthy!

At last I have an answer that I actually know!

Aaah! that's what I needed, thanks! I was considering the specialist thing but managed to sweet talk the good old NHS so I'll still give it a go!

Like I said to Louise, I'm not giving up, so I appreciate your reassurance!

xx

Hi maybe baby
Just wanted you to know you are not alone as my cycles are always 35+ days, and I ovulate somewhere between 21 and 25 days. I also had a m/c and am not pg again yet but from what I have read/heard from doctors its not really an issue - think the cycle is still consider 'regular' in that its similar every month. I share your worries though, plus wish I had a shorter cycle so ttc could be faster!!! ovulating once every 5 weeks or so seems like it takes forrrrrrrrrrrrrever! xxxxx

Oh thanks Sarah, sorry about your M/C.

Have you been trying long?

I'll let you know what the specialist says when I go in a couple of weeks, maybe I'm worrying unnecessarily.

And yeah the long cycles are a pain especially for the impaitent!

xx

I have 40 day cycles and iv had 2 babys hun dont worry it will be fine xxxx

Mine are usually anything between 30 and 35 - have at the odd time been 40ish! My doctor said there was nothing to worry about as this was still considered to be in the normal length of cycles and that it didnt really have any effect on getting pregnant.

Oh thanks Leibiloo!

I feel a bit silly now, maybe my problem is not late ovulation but is stressing too much about everything!??

Good luck TTC this time xx

Your going to worry though of course you are but try your best not to if possible. Im sending happy thoughts your way!!! and baby dust of course lots of luck this month hun.

Can you let me know what the specialist says when you see them please, as my cycles are even longer then yours, last lone was 52 days before that 42 & 47.... I am also concerned that it could mean I have PCOS, I still havent ovulated this month yet which means I am in for another long cycle.

Was considering seeing my GP if we are not successful this month as it just doesnt seem right that they are this long.

Good luck for October x x x

hey maybe baby yeah I think there was another lady on here who conceived on day 72! Last month I was 69 day cycle and this month Ive ov'd after about 12 days (approx as havent worked my days out) so mine are irregular but conceived jude on these type cycles

dont worry honey hope you are well otherwise
xxx

Hi maybe baby, yes that'd be good to share what your specialist says. Your gp sounds really nice, mine don't seem to care much about pregnancy related issues and usually just fob me off! Try to avoid going these days!
We have been trying since March but took a few months off after mc cos I had a few infections and no proper af. But my cycles appear to be back to normal-ish now (35/36 days) so now on cycle 3 of trying again. Its hard not to stress isn't it? I used OPK's last month just to check that I am actually ovulating....but trying the relaxed approach this month, or at least attempting to!!! take care xxx

Hey Vicky!

Well I'm getting tested for PCOS at the docs, this means that you just have bloods that check your different hormone levels. You have to start tests on CD1.

I had no problem arranging this, but like you I felt he was fobbing me off not answering all the questions I wanted answers to, when I called to complain I said to the Practice Manager that either he was skirting round the questions or he only had basic knowledge on the female reproductive cycle, I think it may have been the latter and that's why I have been referred to a 'Specialist'.

I also explained to the Practice manager that my problem could easily be rectified with different hormone tablets or if necessary Clomid to get to ovulating earlier.

I'd make an appointment, don't worry it won't mean you can't get preggers it just won't be as easy as everyone else without a little bit of help.

Good luck xxx

I'll definitely keep you posted hun.

I'm trying to chill too, I need to use the OPKs though so I know my cycle is still long.

Good luck xxx

Thanks Bunny and Gemini! xx

Good luck and babydust to you xx

I've been having long cycles for a long time, from 34-37 days.

Are you sure you ovulate when you would think (I'm not sure of your history of keeping track, sorry)? The reason I'm asking is that I ovulated much earlier than I imagined last month, and I'm pregnant. I was using OPK's for the first time and I got a surge on day 16, and pains on day 17, which I think were ovulation pains.I didn't expect to ovulate until about 1 full week later...so I was shocked. I got a + hpt 10 days afterwards, so I'm assuming I certainly did ovulate earlier. It could be that you ovulate earlier, but have a long luteal phase (maybe more than 14-16 days). You could ovulate sooner than you think, but get your period when you normally do, because you have a long luteal phase after you've ovulated..that's not a problem at all.

I've never known anything about women with longer cycles having less chance of a successful conception and pregnancy.

Thanks for that Liverpool Mum and congratulations!!

I'm using the Clearblue Digi OPKs at the moment and always OV CD 25.

At the moment I only use them the 7 days around OV as I have been regular for 5 months now even after my M/C.

Maybe I should think about testing more for OV, did you test each day from AF? Also did you usually OV the same CD each month or did it change?

xx
