Hello everyone. I'm a psychiatrist and brain scientist, right now I'm writing a series of books on pregnancy, or what parents can do during pregnancy to promote the brain development of their babies. Here I'm looking for suggestions for the title of this series.

I'm currently considering "The origin of a new life" or "The origin of a baby's brain", but I feel they're not so appealing and I'd better seek help directly from young moms.

A few words on the series. This series is originally written for my family and friends. Given my training in medicine, psychiatry, and brain science, they have long been asking me what science tells about pregnancy and parenting, how to boost the baby’s brain development, and even “how to raise a genius”. To answer their questions, after spending years, I have finally performed a systematic review of the scientific literature using the major database PubMed (dear reader, you can also do it if you want). Established by the United States National Library of Medicine, PubMed allows access to research reports published on almost all the influential journals in the field of psychology, brain science, and medicine.

My primary interest is baby’s brain development, for governments and popular books have been telling us a lot about how to promote the physical health of babies. Brain development, on the other hand, is only a recent scientific topic. As you know, our brain development critically determines our intellectual, emotional, and social development, which ultimately defines what we are (As Rene Descartes has put it, “I think, therefore I am.” That’s it).

I have myself went through all the medical training and internship in gynaecology (i.e., the medical field dealing with female reproductive systems), obstetrics (i.e., pregnancy and childbirth), and pediatrics (i.e., care of infants, children). Yet, I myself have been astonished by the results of the systematic review. Parents’ health and behaviors during pregnancy, which may seem pretty subtle to themselves, exert really powerful and lost-lasting impact on the development of their babies. For instance, some of the impact has been demonstrated to well persist into early adult of the babies. Therefore, I feel that the results of my systematic review should be available to every parents.

Then comes this series. As part of the results of the systematic review, this series focuses on the period of pregnancy. It is about what parents can do during pregnancy to protect and boost the brain development of their babies. The first volume focuses on psychological health of the parents (both the mother and the father) during pregnancy, the second volume maternal lifestyle (e.g., nutritional intervention), and the third volume antenatal education (or taikyo, i.e., educating babies in the womb).

Do you have any suggestions on the title of this series? Thank you.

The Origin on a new life feels a little Stephen Hawkins to me so id avoid that one.

If you are wanting to publish as a book and what to grab peoples attention then maybe use the 'How to raise a genius' Or something along those lines.
How to grow a genius. That would make me look twice at a book.

Thank you for your suggestion. Yeah, am preparing for publish right now, almost ready.
How to raise a genius is great, but I just worry that some parents do not like this name, because they may think they just want their baby to be happy...

All parents want their child to be happy and some would argue intelligence doesn't equal happiness sometimes the smartest people are the most troubled. But I see your point. I'm just not sure, who is your target audience? Aim the book towards them.

Thank you for your reply. Right, brain is the basis for all happiness and intelligence.
My target audience is all pregnant couples, since i believe all parents want their babies to have a healthy and better brain.
