Help am i having a miscarriage?

Hello,

I went to early pregnancy unit yesterday as had browny red discharge- they took an internal scan and I am 5 weeks 5 days and they saw a heartbeat and everything looked fine so I was happy.

Today however just before doing to work I felt something and looked and I’ve bright red blood. It went through a panty liner so have put a pad on and I’m still bleeding.

I rang epu again and waiting on a call back, meanwhile I’m sat in tears

DD85 do you have any pain or cramps? Is the blood thin or has it got clots in it?

There are lots of reasons other then miscarriage which can cause bleeding, even the internal scan can irritate your cervix and cause some bleeding, my experience of a miscarriage was constant cramps in lower back and tummy before the bleeding even started then clots coming out, hang on in there and see what EPU say, if everything looked ok on scan yesterday there’s a good chance it’s still ok today, fingers crossed for you, good luck

Thank you, they have just called and said because they scanned me yesterday they wouldn’t scan me again so soon. They have said to wait and see if the bleeding calms down and hope for the best as some pregnancies continue even with bleeding.

The bloody is bright red and very thin. It’s got bits in it however I had bits already with the brown/blood stuff before I went to epu. I had no stomach cramps prior to the bleed however I’m feeling little twinges now.

Oh I do feel for you, it’s awful having to just sit around and wait to see what happens, hopefully it’s just a bit of irritation or just the unexplainable but harmless bleeding which some women do seem to get, i think you would be having worse pains if it was MC, Would you consider trying to book a private scan over the weekend or early next week? Thank you, I know I’m sat at work trying to hold back tears. It’s just mild cramping I’m gettibg I just don’t like the bright red blood. I had an early pregnancy scan booked already for next sat as thought I’d be 8 weeks but il only he 7 it’s £90 so not sure whether to keep the appointment or not

Well the best thing to do really is to see how you get on over the next few days, If it doesn’t get heavier and then tails off id be inclined to go to your private scan, if it does get heavier or you are still really worried after the weekend phone the EPAU again and ask when they can see you again, as you may get another scan there rather then paying the 90 quid, I know how awful it is having to go to work while this is going on, is taking the next few days off an option for you - anything pregnancy related can’t be held against you x

I’m trying to keep it away from work at the mo as not sure how welcoming they will be about it all.
It’s now ver light and brown colour so I’m hoping that’s a positive sign. It really is a case of wait and see isn’t it 😩

Instead of a scan, can't they check if your HCG is doubling via blood work?

in the meantime all you can do is keep the faith that everything is ok. Loads of women get period like bleeding and still deliver a healthy little baby ... keep updating please

No they said they wouldn’t do anything else as there saw me yesterday and all was well. I guess they may do that in a weeks time.
Fingers crossed i won’t see anymore bright red and that baby is still sticky x

So after the brown stuff later that day on Thursday I had a brown clot thing about size of 20p then I have been having brown when I wipe since I had a bother little clot last night again brown. But don’t know what this means now. Does the clots mean I lost it? What colour are clots when you’ve lost a baby?

I had huge bright red clots when I lost mine, I think the fact that it’s brown is a good sign, have you had any bad pains? X

When I’ve lost pregnancies it’s always been red, not brown, and I’ve always lost tissue as opposed to just clots

They seemed big but they were def brown but had red tinge and I did inspect them and it was bit stringy so no idea what it is. Haven’t had any bad pains either just occasionally mild cramps but had hide anyway. Boobs are still swollen and hurt and feel nauseous. Because I had an internal scan I don’t know if that is the cause of my bleeding.
The brown is still there but very little. I had booked an early private scan for next weekend but I’ll only be 7 weeks and my OH wants to wait until 9 weeks, he said of the opinion we saw baby on weds and it was fine

I think you will probably be fine, the fact that you’ve still got pregnancy symptoms and you haven’t had strong cramps is a good sign, there is no mistaking the pains that come with miscarriage! It sounds like you would really benefit from going to the 7 week scan in my opinion as you will get a better idea of what’s going on, hopefully it will put your mind at rest, fingers crossed for you x

Go for the 7 week scan if for no other reason to find out what is going on.
I had bleeding twice when I was pg with my first (4 years ago now so I don’t remember much detail, except I thought it was period!) but he hung in there and I had a healthy boy! Bleeding happens, it is scary, it’s not always a positive outcome but it’s not always bad either.
Fingers crossed for you that all is ok.

Just to put your mind at ease a little
I had brown discharge with large clots for 2 weeks from 5-7 weeks pregnant.
If you look on my journal you’ll see what I experienced, I was so concerned at first but then it grew to be pretty normal, by the end of the 2 weeks I just saw a discolouring on the tissue when I wiped. All was ok and is ok I’m 8 weeks now. Discharge has stopped nausea has increased haha
Also my app says my mucus plug is finally sealed so I’m guessing it’s just an expel of old period blood or blood from implantation.
Brown is fine,
Red with severe cramps isn’t
