Hi, just found out I'm pregnant 4+3 weeks, I have had 2 previous miscarriages and I've heard that taking progesterone and aspirin can help, I went to my Dr yesterday and he was not helpful and I left feeling sad that there's nothing I can do to help this baby stick. I'm 40 and this really is our last chance to have a last baby, I've been trying for 3 yrs. It takes us a year to 18 months to conceive. I have got myself some low dose 75mg aspirin and I'm seeing another dr today.. Has anyone had to take these, I took an aspirin last night but I felt very bad as I would of liked the dr to help me and if I do nothing I will regret it if I mc again.. Just hoping this baby sticks... Any advice please x

As far as I'm aware you're supposed to steer well clear of aspirin in pregnancy... But I'm afraid I can't help other than that... I'd say ask your GP but they don't sound particularly helpful... Sorry I can't really help much but didn't wanna read nd run. Good luck xx

I saw another doctor today and she told me that she didn't know anything about it so she rang the hospital for me and the progesterone is not used anymore and aspirin would actually be good for me as I have high bp in pregnancy, but the midwife will tell me when to take it? When I get booked in at 8 to 10 weeks.. Which is probably no good to me as the little cells don't make it past 6. :( oh well I'll just have to stay positive and keep on with the no caffeine, chocolate, fizzy drinks, artificial sweeteners and all the other no no's...

I think your need to speak to a specialist and the only way to do anything quickly is to pay for it.

With your previous mcs it's a shame that the doctors didn't have an action plan in place.

Progesterone can certainly help *if* the reason for the miscarriages is hormonal. A good way to tell the likelihood of that being the case is by looking at what your cycles were like before.

If you had regular cycles then your hormones are probably fine.

You can buy progesterone creams but you have to be careful because it is a sudden drop on progesterone that causes the uterus to abort so if you start on progesterone and then forget to take it... it might end the pregnancy.

You have to come off it very slowly and not before week 12.

I think aspirin is a good idea, but again i'm not sure that i'd take it after 12 weeks.

Fingers crossed this is a sticky bean :)

I have progesterone injections once a week until week 12 when I will get lower dose for another 9 weeks x I've had 3 previous mcs

I was on progesterone but i had to go private because NHS didnt want to prescribe it. In some cases progesterone helps
