rite.
totally confused by this maternity pay stuff.
i work full time for my mums business. i just put my wages etc into a calucator thing and showed me how much i would get per week.
its less that what the smp is.
would my husbands wage affect what i get?

so confused.

anyone shed any light on it for me?

If you work, you will get EITHER your weekly pay, or stat mat may of 120 quid a week, whichever is LESS. So, if you earn less than £120 a week, your statutory maternity pay will be whatever you are earning. If you want say £300 a week, then your stat mat pay will be £120 a week. Hope that helps x

That's a bit rubish. According to direct gov site I would be on 90 a week. Can't afford that. Gonna have to go bk to work early.
Can I go bk early? Or do u have to take 9 months?

You have to legally take 2 weeks.

If you work out 90% of you wage and its less than 120 then you get 90% of ur wage if its more than 120 u get 120

U get 90% of ur wage for the first 6 weeks (smp not mat allowance) then 90% or £128 whichever is least for remaining 33weeks.

It depends were u work tho cos some companies (like the nhs) have a maternity package.

What calculator did u use? I wasn't aware there was 1 for mat pay xx

i work for my mum, only us who run the business. it was on direct.gov websitesite. its for businesses to calculate pay etc.

i work in a bridal shop. so april onwards is gonna be trickly bending down and lifting dresses off the rail. but i cant afford to loose too much pay. just brought a house. :(
