First of all I am shattered, sleep deprived and getting headaches upon waking lasting all day. For around a month now my lo's sleep has just got worse and worse. It crept in slowly, waking more frequently at night and now for the last few week its wakings every 1.5 -2 -2.5hrs. He had started been a great sleeper before this and would go 5-6hours before a feed. Im ebf by the way. Our routine has always been the same and he gets off to sleep with not much problem. It all seemed to have started after vaccines. When hes waking up hes not always hungry as he doesnt always feed alot before going back to sleep. I dont leave him too long otherwise he will start crying and will make it harder for me to settle him back down. I just dont know what to do anymore. Il have just gone back to sleep and im woken up again by lo. Look at my clock and its only 11pm-1pm-2.30pm-4pm-6pm. You get my drift. He also cat naps during the day 20-30mins a time. Not enough for me to get abit of sleep. Also have two older children to take care of after school. Any help or advice would be appreciated

Would you try a dummy or does he have one already? Is he falling asleep on the breast? You’re also heading towards (or maybe early onset) the 4 month sleep regression so maybe a touch of that? Or teething? Would you consider expressing and bottle feeding at night? Eg so someone else could help and also so you can see how much he’s getting (if he will take a bottle of course).

My 4m old generally only cat naps too in the day. And the past week he’s waking up more at night so I feel your pain x

He already does have a dummy, but prefers me over the dummy. When he is hungry he will stay awake at the breast till hes full. Which i know he does become full as when im burping him i can hear alot of milk moving around in his tummy. The rest of the time hes waking up hes not on the breast long maybe a few minutes and hes back to sleep. He prefers me over the dummy as ive tried just giving him the dummy, sometimes works sometimes doesnt and hes back awake within an hour. He is teething, hes been teething for a month im using teething granules during the day and just before bed. There is no one else really to help other than my husband who has to go to work early. I dont see the point in introducing a bottle as he seems fine and full during the day. It might be his teeth i really dont know, he does escape his swaddle to put his hands in his mouth. Hes not crying when he wakes up either Just fidgeting

Yeah that was only reason I was suggesting bottle but if full there’s no point other than to give you a break. I know your husband goes to work early but sure he could manage one feed if he’ll take a bottle? You’re working too remember and it’s more important you’re with it as you have to keep a tiny human alive! DH and I generally share the load with night times (bf and bottle) particularly if he’s had a bad night - same as you at the moment, he’s up a lot. And I’ll just take over if it’s getting silly so DH can get a chunk of sleep if he has to drive like he did today.

If he’s not crying could you try just leaving him? Maybe with white noise/ music etc? My boy does this too, some nights I put earplugs in - sounds awful but I’m such a light sleeper but this way I hear him cry/make big noises but don’t hear the shuffling. Maybe try a bit of ambesol liquid on a night? Maybe try him without swaddle? Just throwing out ALL ideas here!!

My 3 were all like that during teething. That doesn't really help though. He isn't getting cold is he? My youngest was really hard to keep warm and he woke every time he got a bit chilly.

My little one has always eaten multiple times over night, the only way I've had sleep is to co sleep and let him roll on and off to eat as much as he wants without us all waking/getting up.

Co sleeping was a miracle for me also but I know it doesn't appeal to everyone.

mine used to wake up every 45 minutes at that age. it only increased to every two hours when i switched him to a bottle at 6 months. That was like a dream! He never got to 4 hour stretches til he was about 1. Now he is 17 months and for a couple of months has been sleeping all the way through til 4 or 5am.....but i'm about to have another newborn ....aghhhh!!!!

No hes definatly not cold, last night was a better night. He did 4 hours. Then 2hrs after that for the rest of the night. It could be his teeth. I tried unswaddling but he went crazy rubbing his little forehead (bit of dry skin) must have been itchy and wouldnt stop, so i had to re swaddle him. Also i used to co sleep and stopped 6 week ago. I didnt mind co sleeping, but i started having nightmares. I forgot what the dreams are called, when you can see yourself on the bed, everything is like it is in reality? Only reason i knew it was a dream was when the light switch wouldnt turn on. I used to feel something climbing on the bed ontop of me (All a dream) but so real. Anyway thats a whole other story. I couldnt keep him in the bed with me when i was having dreams like that, i was scared ide end up crushing lo in my sleep.

Makes sense. I got a Chico next2me cot with my 3rd which I love. It gives the baby their own space but is almost like cosleeping. Wish I had had it with my second. It might work really well for you but maybe not worth it at this point because baby can only be in it for so long.

Yep got the chicco next2me cot. Doesnt stop them waking up frequently unfortunatly lol. Good thing is you dont have to get out of bed walking around your bedroom with your eyes still shut.
