Hi all
I just joined and trying for our first at 37 (eek!)
Been trying for nearly 2 years and visited the doctor last month to start the ball rolling as we don't seem to have had any luck so far, blood tests at 18 days said I had ovulated and his sperm was normal
So what now? on the way home from work I bought TTC vitamins for me and him, and OPK's
My cycle is at 24/25 days, pretty accurate apart from the odd blip where I can go a few days late
Would be nice to know a good chart or calculator for tracking my fertile days as well; if anyone can suggest anything, I used to have a couple of apps on my phone, but they both said totally different things
Also any tips would be good, we are currently doing it about 2 or 3 times in the week around the 14 days before my period, sticking my bum under a pillow after wards.

Admittedly, my diet is not great, so have upped the veg and salad 10 fold from today!

what else...?

It's heart wrenching having all your friends and family fall pregnant before you knowing we have been trying longer than them, every one I used to speak to about this is now pregnant, it feels very isolating and it feels hard to socialise with them now out of fear for them sympathising with me :(
I hope some of you can see where I am coming from

Hi welcome to the forum. Im sure you will find it very helpful as the girls on here are really lovely and supportive xx

Hi & welcome to the forum, were all friendly in here & you will get the support you need while ttc :)
You seem to be covering all aspects while ttc, like pillow under your bum during sex, vitamins, had a check up & your both healthy fertility wise. What day do you ovulate on if your cycles are 24/25 thats quite a short cycle isnt it. Is this normal for you, or are your cycles up & down ?

Have you had a progesterone test done ? Am just wondering with you having a short cycle, wether your lutal phase is long enough, reason i ask if you know the day you ovulated on. Do you use Ovulation tests ?

A lot of people who struggle to ttc find they have short lutal phases but to know if you have, you need to use ovulation tests so you can determine when you ovulate then when you come on ( If) you do come on. If you did it can be fixed, through vitamin B6, or a vitamin B supplement from Boots, holland & barrets etc.

Hello newbie fresh! Welcome

Im also trying for my first and i turned 36 last month and like you i am a little worried about my age, never was before I started trying but now im thinking that i wish i had listened to all those ppl who said DONT LEAVE IT TO LONG!

This is my first month trying and I have been on this forum now for a few weeks and have learned so much I didnt know before so you will get lots and lots good advise from the girls :)

Because of my age and not knowing when I OV i bought a Clear Blue fertility monitor what tells you the days you are fertile before you OV and your OV days.

I also use a lube called Conceive Plus from Boots, there are other you can get ummmmm ones called pre-seed and think there is one called Yes Yes Yes lube and im sure the girls will tell you of more if you need to use it.

Im also taking vits, im taking the Pregnacare his & her conception tablets (well im taking the her ones LOL!) and iv just got some B6 vit (what lengthens your luteal Phase) and some Evening Primrose tablets that helps you to produce more EWCM.

Never know anything about Luteal Phases and EWCM until I joined here! LOL

There are lots of apps to use, i use one called Just Mommies what also shows a diagram of what is happening to you each month of your cycle.

Welcome and I hope you get lots of good advise and will be able to tell all your friend and family that you are pregnant also very soon! :) x

Wow, thanks for the welcome :D

To answer the questions, I tried OPK's before, showed a pink line at about 14 days before and I never did it again
Bought more this evening, so looking forward to trying them out properly next month, not spent out on the fetility monitor, was £75 so thought I'd stick with the OPK's

I had 2 blood tests, one was a day 18, or in some cycles the day 21, this confirmed I OV'd last month, the other I had today was a day 2-5 test, to test for rubella and something else, but I couldn't tell you what
My cycles are normally this short; great stuff as it's more chances over the year :D

Thanks ladies :)

To add

I am hoping a lot of it is about positive thinking... a load of old poppycock I thought; but all this time I've been thinking his sperm was naff or I was not OVing, to find out our bodies are doing as they should is a big big positive for us,
so a little bit more positive thinking I am hoping will go a long way for our general health

Pink line would of been your positive, glad you got more opk to use this month, there easier to use i think & cheaper of course than the fertility monitor, i never bothered with one of them either but they are good. Sounds like you ovulate on cd10, try the preseed lube i use that too, you can get it from boots or ebay if you use ebay. Hopefully you will get your bfp soon hun. Fingers crossed. X

Pinkbutterfly, OMG. I didnt know you was 36 you look about 20 in that profile picture, i honestly thought you was about 20/22 max hehehe. xx

Hahaha stop hijacking the newbies thread! Pmsl. x

Hi Ladies - just thought I'd let you know that after nearly 8 months of trying, using dfiferent methods of charting, OPKs etc I decided to buy a clearblue fertility monitor (got mine from amazon and was about £60).

I was getting so fed up like Fresh said of people getting pregnant, and people asking if we wer etrying, so i thought sod it!! I' spent so much on sticks i thought it would eventually save me money (as it remembers your fertile days each month)

Any to cut a long story short, the first month i used it i got my BFP!! Now nearly 4 months pregnant.

Iknow it won't work for everyone, but my thought was if I'm serious about wanting to get pregnant (which we were I'm nearly 32 and husband is 48) it would be worth. After my BFP i didn't think twice about the money i'd spent!!

Sending love and best wishes to you all xx

Congrats!

So good to hear as im on my first month TTC and also using the CBFM :) WOOP WOOP!

Wish you a healthy and happy 9 months hun! x

I know a few who have used and found it really useful...i don't know if it was that, or just our time but I'd recommend it to anyone..seemed much more accurate than staring at lines on strips and measuring temperature!!

I agree, specially as some of the girls where saying yesterday on a thread that you can not trust some of those OPK strips. At least with the monitor you havent got to try and work out yourself if the lines are darker on one day to the next :)

Well im on my first month trying TTC so FX it also works for me like it did for you! :) x
