Hi everyone

I must admit that I've been viewing the forum since I found out I was pregnant however I've been too shy to post....quite surprising considering i"m 35 years old!

It's been a great help and a fantastic source of information...I'm a first time mum so it's all new to me.

So far I've had quite a easy time of it apart from the last few weeks where I've been extremely tired. Just found out I'm anaemic so hopefully the iron supplements the MW recommended will help.

Any way, I thought it was about time I plucked up the courage and joined and I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you a lot better.

Take care
Kerry

No need to be shy! Welcome and congrats

I'm 37 and a half and a bit so dont feel bad about that lol

Thanks girls

Hollyhobby - our due dates are one day apart I think

Have you felt any movement yet?

Yes just starting to get regular movements now, bit more defined everyday but nothing majorly hard. Had a good session this morning which was unmistakeably the baby, so would count today really as being first day I am 100% sure.
At first I wasnt sure what I was feeling and couldnt say for sure it was the baby or just general twinges! Been getting alot of feelings on the inside of my cervix for a while now from first tri and that was the baby, must have been just more sensitive to feeling it there, but I tll you, it freaks me out when I feel that!

My tip to get baby moving has to be get a squeeling cat or talk like one cos they either love ot or hate it but it gets them active!

I started to feel some very light movements a couple of nights ago but like you, I wasn't really sure to start off with. They are also starting to become a bit more defined. It's an amazing feeling and I'm so relieved.

We have 4 cats so I have a feeling it's going to be an active baby considering what you've just said!

Hello and welcome! And congratulations on your pregnancy! :D

Hi Kerry.. I was much like you when I first found out I was pregnant. I was too scared to get involved in this in case something went wrong so I never properly joined Tri 1.. I sort-of came in a little late during Tri 2, after reading people's posts and browsing through the forum.

How far gone are you?

Please let us know more about yourself and the pregnancy.. we love to know! :D

And don't be shy

Thanks everyone, it's so nice to receive so many warm welcomes. I'm really glad there are other people out there that spent a lot of time browsing before joining, it makes me feel better!

Hmm so you want to know more.....well I'm now 18 weeks along, the first 12 or 13 weeks went really slowly but I'm finding things are going a bit quicker now. Our next milestone is the 21 week scan on 6th February. We've decided to find out the sex...it will make it easier to buy stuff but also my OH is really hoping for a girl so I felt that finding out would really help with him bonding with the baby, particularly if it's a boy.

My husband is one of the reasons why we've left it so long to start a family...he's a 40 year old trapped in a teenagers body - loves boys toys and has never felt mature enough to take on the responsibility of a family. I think he may find it difficult to adjust to having a baby.

It took us 7 months to conceive...not long compared to some people but it felt like the longest 7 months of my life, so stressful. I really feel for the ladies that have struggled to conceive, some of the stories I've read on here have had me in tears.

HIya there Kerry and welcome, and congrats of course

Im 32, so considered 'older' as well. Seems there are a few of us over 30 here who are preg xxxx

Thanks scones. I do feel reassured by the number of ladies on here over 30. When we were TTC, I did feel like an old lady at first and spoke to the doctor but she soon set me straight and said compared to some ladies, I was a spring chicken!

I've found that it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference really, we all seem to have the same worries and niggles

Hey Kerry! Congratulations

I'm 30, 31 when baby arrives, first time Mum, Papa 2 Be is 35 maybe 36 when baby arrives and first time Dad. And there are loads of us all in the same boat so we can all muddle through together!

My 21 week scan is 3 days after yours too and I can't wait neither, let me know how you get on.

Hope the iron supplements are working out for you.

Thanks Mama2Be. I know I won't be able to keep my scan results to myself when the time comes!

Are you also planning to find out the baby's sex at your scan?

Well, I said no all along and now I'm thinking it would be easier for the nursery to know the sex (ha any excuse) but I'm trying my hardest to stay green and get a little surprise when the bean arrives.

I think it's a boy but I won't be dissapointed either way I just have a feeling its a boy.
