Hi all

I'm Helen, and my partner and I are going to start TTC in August. We're a same-sex couple and will be inseminating at home using donor sperm. I'm really excited, overwhelmingly so at times! Feeling all sorts of emotions I guess....anxiety, desperation, frustration, impatience. We don't want to tell family and friends (other than a couple of very close people) so I'm feeling a bit lonely with it all and hoping chatting to others in similar situations might help.

Really looking forward to joining in here. 😊

Hi and welcome to pregnancy forum. there are lots of helpful ladies on here.

Look forward to your journey xx

Hello there!

That sounds exciting!! I agree with Charlene - people on here are really really helpful and I'm sure you'll feel very welcome here. I'm only here for a couple of months, but found everyone on here to be so lovely and supporting!
Are you the one who is going to be pregnant or your partner (if i may ask?)? Anyways, I wish you and your partner the best of luck xx

Hi both, thank you for your kind messages and for making me feel welcome. I'm going to carry the baby, it's not something my partner is sure she wants to do whereas it's been something I've always know I want to! Xx

Hey helen...welcome xx

Wow, such an exciting journey. I'd use the time between now and Aug to track your cycles, and get to know the signs your body sends off.

Feel free to ask anything. Some questions on here aren't for the faint hearted lol...but all so helpful.

Good luck xoxo

Hi Helen, I'm new too :) exciting times! Best of luck with your pregnancy when it arrives xx

Thank you ruby2015. You too! Whereabouts are you on your journey?

Really exciting tilliewoo, I've been charting for a few months, I find it quite addictive! Lol. I feel like I constantly have questions, I just want to understand the process and make sure we're doing things right when we start. Xx

Your in the best place to get tjose questions answered...we have no boundaries lol...

So fire away, chances are we have all asked at one time or another x

My husband and I are in the 2nd month of trying to conceive our first baby! It's amazing how super-aware I've become of my body. I'd never given it a second thought before, and now wish I'd kept a symptoms diary before we started trying- i analyse everything now! I'm currently almost at the end of my cycle and on tenterhooks wanting to know whether we've managed it! I have a feeling this isn't the month but that's ok.

A good friend of mine is in a same sex couple like you- they have a gorgeous 18 month old now. The clever thing is that they used both their eggs in the IVF and still don't know which one it was- I thought that was such a fab way of doing it!

Fingers crossed for you Ruby. Must be agonising, waiting to find out each cycle if it worked. You sound like you're managing it well, and I guess that's important, accepting that it might take time. I keep reminding myself that! Yes I analyse everything. It's fascinating! That's a really awesome idea about using both eggs. Part of the reason for me carrying is that there is a potential genetic issue that could be passed on from my partner so using her eggs is not straightforward. It is hard to think that I will be biologically connected and she won't but I know she won't love a child any less because of it.

tilliewoo I guess my biggest concern is knowing when to do the insemination. We're not very close geographically to our donor so it'll be one go per cycle. I don't know how soon after the positive OPK for eg, and info seems to vary?
