Hi everyone.

I am currently pregnant with my second baby. i am now 26 weeks and 2 days ago i lost my mucus plug (sorry for gross content!)

My first baby was 6 weeks early and i lost my mucus plug with her 3 days before i went into labour. i am just terrified now! i have been told that the risk of having another preterm baby is high and given i had an extremely quick labour ( less than 2 hours from rupture to delivery) they have said they want me to make it to hospital this time, especialy if the chance of pre term are high.

Obviously this is soo early to loose my plug and i know it definately was. however they arent doing anything as i have no cramps or blood loss. however as i have tried to explain, i had no blood with my first and no cramping.

My little one is only 14 months so im currently running about a lot after her and not taking it easy as i should, their advise is just bedrest, no lifting or stretching, no sex and nothing that can cause infection. (not very practical being a mummy and having no help or child care!) they said it might regrow or we might be lucky and have few more weeks! i have had 2 antinatal appointments since pregnant, they have mixed up my results, told me i was fine when i had a urine infection, no one knows my history or seems to be there for me. i seem to be self diagnosing myself which isnt good!

This happened to my friend at 34 weeks and she was taken in for her cervix to be examined and steroid injections and constant care and check ups etc...yet i just seem to have been told to go home and ride the storm and see what happens...but im only 26 weeks!!

im trying not to worry but wondered if anyone else has had the same thing and can put me at ease or advise me if there is anything i should/shouldnt be doing or if theres anything the midwife should be suggesting but isnt??

Much appreciated
Siobhan

HI,

Sounds like you have had a bit to worry about. Really I don't know what I can suggest, as I have never been though this. If you have a good doctor or midwife, maybe give them a call and let them know how you are feeling.

Sounds like something needs to be done. Is there anyone who could take you litte one for a couple of hours so you can rest??

You really need push to be examined. This is not on. I really hope you get seen and get the appropriate attention you should be getting!xx

Thanks. i think with your second your kinda get left to get on with it more and probably i should be less stressed but i have no midwife in charge of me. i have been given a name who should be my midwife, but i have never seen her.

i phoned to say i was upset and concerned about loosing my plug so early and that although i have no cramping, i didnt with my first baby. i also tried to explain to them the option of bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy is impractical as i have a 14 month and the womans response was..."should have thought of that before having a second baby!"

i honestly give up and now am just riding the storm as they said. but it my baby at risk here. they refuse to do anything saying there is no point in examining me as nothing we can do now and the plug might regrow or not. if i was cramping then i will be dealt with...unfortnately if i start cramping its too late...as given my first delivery speed....if my second is any quicker i doubt i will make it in time to a hospital bed!

just wondered if anyone else has lost their plug this early and what happened...

thanks for your replies guys! xx

Crikey, I hope you are ok hun.

Can you not ring them back and tell them you have cramping? We all know how these start and then stop all of a sudden. I know it's wrong to fib and all that but I think you need to play the system a bit here to get someone to at least check you over.

Good luck hunny xxxxxxxxx

I agree with babybrain hunni id ring back and lay it on thick and whats a little fib compared to your sanity and bubs health!

Regardless of second baby or not the way theyve treat/spoken to you is disgusting!

Sorry cant offer any help didnt wanna read and run, really hoping you get somewhere soon

ps id complain bout the person who told you to "think about it before you had another" id have given what for! xxxx

I've gotta say it cos I'm feeling a bit hormonal......IF WOMEN ONLY HAD ONE SHE WOULDN'T HAVE A FLAMING JOB FOR VERY LONG!!!!!!!!!!

:) I feel much better now xxxxxxxxxx

This is ridiculous!!! Camp out in the doctors' surgery, the maternity unit or A&E until someone actually listens to you. x

I would KICK OFF... if your not been looked after then i would ring up 1.your midwife and say you want an appointment to see her today its rediculous you have never met her, Call up the hospital and ask to complain about the lady on the phone, also i would be marching up there and demanding to see someone!!
Have you got anyone who can watch your LO for you while you go to the doctors? Refuse to move untill your seen and say i can bedrest i have a baby to look after!! Grrr im so mad for you right now! xx
