Heat packs safe to use in labour? Any particular brand?

Just thinking of some heat packs for my back as it would be easier to travel to the hospital with those than a hot water bottle! Just wondering if anyone's used them and which ones are safe?

Do you mean the type you press and create a chemical reaction that heats on it's own? I don't see why they wouldn't be safe. Sometimes they can get quite hot but you could just wrap a cloth around it or keep it on top of your clothes if needed. I had a home birth last time and used a grain bag that heats in the microwave all the way through my labour and it was great but I quite like the idea of having some self heating packs on hand.
