Heartburn

Good morning everyone!

I have chronic heartburn which I cant seem to get rid of

I had it constantly for three days last week, then it magically disappeared over the weekend, and came back with avengance at 3am this morning!

Ive tried all of the over the counter heartburn remedies that I can take and the only thing ive found which helps so far is milk, but that only last for about 5 minutes.

Has anybody else suffered really badly with it? If so, what did you find that worked?

Have you tried Gaviscon Advance? It's only available from pharmacies and much thicker than the normal gaviscon. I still swig loads of it, but it's much more soothing and lasts a lot longer than the normal stuff!

i havent had much heartburn but what i do get is rather painful, so far i havent used anything, but will be looking for remedies if it gets much work like urself! XX hope it gets better soon xx

I've been getting it really badly in the middle of the night every night. I'm always too tired to actually get up and do something about it so I just lie there and suffer really, lol, servers me right for being lazy....

I've had heartburn the majority of the way through my pregnancy - get it 2-3 times a week. I use Rennie Fruits, they're safe to use in pregnancy and taste just like refresher sweets! lol! Mmmmmm X

Thanks for the advice and support girls! Meg, I'll definitely try gaviscon advance, id only tried the other forms but didnt know about advance!

Id never had heartburn up until recently and jebus is it painful!

i get chronic heartburn (even when i am not pregnant so the last little while has been HELL)

Basically, gaviscon advance a good swig of that, followed by 2 Zantac 75g tablets will get rid of my heartburn for most of the day

its the only effective combination of stuff i have tried

goodluck - i cant wait til this kid is out and i can get on with loosing some weight and getting my stomach back in order!

Gah I've had it bad recently too!
I was given Gaviscon from my doctor but can't swallow it without feeling nauseous.
Rennie works best for me! They're like square shaped tablets which you can suck or chew and they really work wonders for me! You can take two at a time, but I only need to use one and it's gone.

Im deffo going to try and get some gaviscon advance and see if that helps! I feel for all you other girlys who are suffering too. This is actually one of the worst things ive had to suffer with my pregnancy.
I was very lucky and had no morning sickness, just nausea and I just felt shattered.
Lately been having lots of pains, but the pains and the heartburn are comparible lol.

I suffer from it every now and then aswell, I now take Gaviscon out with me in my bag!

I was told if I suffer really bad with heartburn to tell midwife to get prescription for it after all its free!

i had it for about 2 years (before being pregnant when studying for A levels) and ended up being diagnosed with a over active stomach acid making thingy, and it has just hit me again this week

i find milk works for a short period of time, not eating and sleeping straight away after, give it about 2 hours, gaviscon advance i have on bloody repeat prescription 2 big bottles a month

but i have tryed asdas anti acid tablets, i think there about £2 a box and that has 4 tubes in about 50 tablets in all, fruity flavours really taste like refreshers and actually work, the only think i find it that then in a morning my teeth feel like they have little fleecy jumpers on cos of all the crap n sugar thats in the tablets (yuk!!!)

but there working realllllly well for me,

iv been having it for past week or so and of and on befor i use tums as i cant bear the taste of gaviscon it makes me gag to bad i think my gastric band is agrivating it tho as im getting the sick coming up going back down thing alot as well but m/w just said take heartburn stuff i find strong tea can help for a while as well and avoiding choccy coke and smoky rooms
