When is it possible to hear the heartbeat with a doppler? (Roughly...)

I don't know why and I have absolutely no reason to think anything is wrong, but all I can think about is that there is no HB. I feel being left from 11/12 weeks from the dating scan to 18 weeks when I see the midwife (properly for the 1st time) is way too long as so much stuff goes through your head.

Has anyone else felt like this around 14 weeks?

It's probably just m being insane but I can't help it. :?

I felt the same.

It depends on what doppler you have- the one out of argos/mothercare etc is supposed to be really rubbish but the angel sounds and Hibebe ones from ebay are great and you probably would fine a heart beat now with them though it make take a while the first time so don't panic if you don't

the one from argos/mothercare is not even worth looking at.

i was the same as you though

the morning of my last midwife appt, i was like, oh no shes gonna say she cant find the heartbeat and im gonna be sent for a scan etc and i was cr@pping it to be honest.
but she found it straight away.
then when i came home, i said to my mum, "my baby has a heartbeat!! :cheer: " and she said, i should bloody well hope it does! :rotfl:

i have the angelsounds doppler and i can find it after a few mins... dont forget though, that at your point in pregnancy, the fetus will still mostly be hidden behind your pubic bone.. so dont panic

I think everyone who had bought a doppler has had the same experiences. I am nearly 25 weeks and at the beginning of last week I couldn't find a heartbeat but eventually I found it. In fact when I got up this morning he hadn't kicked yet so put on the doppler- nothing! then as as soon as I took it of an put on the radio he started dancing!!
AnnaMaria and baby boy bump XXX

after about 13 weeks the midwife will be able to find the heart beat.. ive got hi bebe doppler.. and its great.. reasured me before i felt it move.. and now i feel it move a lot im going to use it in labor if i manage to get a home birth...

Thanks girls. My sister is lending me her hi bebe doppler today. Will try it later once I'm back from Milton Keynes shopping center. I know it might be impossible to find it yet so I will try not to worry if I don't. I know I'm being irrational at the moment as I have no reason to think anything bad. I guess it's just natural when you don't feel and look pregnant. I've even started convincing myself that my nausea, tiredness and constant need to wee ar eall in my head.

There's no helping some people! :rotfl:

I got my angel sounds last Tuesday, and it took me 3 hours to find the heartbeat. The girls on here reccommended that you try low down, around your pubic bone, and I find using lots of gel helps too. Everytime I use it it takes me ages to find it, so I asked my OH to try yesterday and he found it after about 5 seconds, literally!! Good luck :)

I got an angel sounds. At first I couldn't find a hb...then around 15 weeks I found it right down in my pelvis, but very faint... Now I find usually within a few moments and its really strong. Depends on how far along you are. I can also hear when he has hiccups on mine... His hb suddenly quickens just after a thump like noise, and this happens regularly... Its really wonderful to hear. I didn't by the gel in the end...so I use this maternity stretchmark oil, so I get to moisturise my tummy at the same time.

I went on holiday for three weeks and I never took the Doppler with me... and while I was away, he went really quiet... Not moving much and I convinced myself that he had died and I was imagining all my symptoms too. So the minute I got home I put the Doppler on and I felt soooo much better.

Now I feel him kick and he has very specific, asleep and awake times, so I only use the Doppler when he has a quiet day.. but once they start kicking a lot you don't feel the need so much.

as poppy said, i cant hear anything unless i use the gel

found mine from 11 weeks with the hi bebe, couldn't find it last night though, found it fine again this morning lol

We just got home from MK shopping and decided to give it a go and we literally found the HB within about 8 seconds. It was so amazing! It's very low down and we had to use plenty of gel but oh my god..... I am just so relieved, emotional and overwhelmed! I cried for 10 minutes straight after we rang my sister and let her hear it "live" (I was using the doppler whilst Matt was talking to her on the phone so they could all hear it).

Girls, I am SO relieved! I will post a sound clip in a sec :D :D :D

From,

A VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY happy Debbie :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
