I am 16 weeks pregnant today. Unfortunately when they tried to listen for my babies heartbeat on a doppler for the first time last week they could not hear anything, and although they reassure me that there is no problem I am panicing like mad.

I keep having what feels like a stitch or pulling right around my belly button and then occasinally in other positions, but am suffering with terrible back ache when trying to get up from lying down.

Could this stitch possibly be my baby moving or is it something else. I dont have my first scan until next thursday and I am so worried.

please help.

niki.

im sure its all going to be ok. Try to stop worrying. What is annoying is that they haven't got you in for a scan straight away! Honestly some of these medical professionals have no idea *shakes head*

please keep us informed and ill be thinking of you.

As for the stitches i would say its normal in some people. I have had a lot of aches and pains around my tummy area in this pregnancy. I told my midwife and she told me it was normal stretching pains.

You know what phonoe your midwife and tell her you're really worried and cannot sleep over this situation. Tell her you WANT a scan tomorrow or earlier if possible.

I agree with Budge - get yourself on the phone to the midwife and kick up a fuss hun. While im totally sure everything is fine (it sounds like you are having ligament stretching pains) you shouldnt have to worry like this. Pregnancy is stressful enough without midwives and hospitals making it worse!

i wouldnt worry too much, sometimes they just miss it thats all, it took my midwife a few mins to find my babys heart beat:)
