Heart murmur

Hello girls & bumps!
hope your all doing ok.
I have been told today that I have a heart murmur which I have developed whilst being pregnant. I am being referred back to the antenatal clinic at the hospital but the doctor said it isn't anything to worry about and I won't need any medication but said the consultant will talk to me about it some more. I'm feeling a bit anxious about it and hoping it won't affect me giving birth naturally. Baby is doing fine and we got to hear their heartbeat again! I always get a bit emotional when I hear it!
I was just wondering if any one has had a similar experience or knows anything about it. Thankyou

Hi Laura, don't know about heart murmurs but didn't want to read and run so here are some

Guess it's maybe caused by the increase in blood flowing through you and extra work your heart is doing at the moment.

Good that the Doc has picked it up though and can monitor it I guess, but must be a worry for you.

Sounds like a flow murmur which is pretty normal in pregnancy and nothing to be worried about.

I have one and its caused me no problems. I've had to see a cardiac specialist a few times to monitor me during pregnancy for other heart problems and serious palpitations and they said the murmur was not a concern and quite normal.

Will right itself once baby is here. And won't interfere with your plans for a natural birth.

Hey, what sherlock said is right. My heart murmur was detected when I was pg with DS. They may want to do a heart scan (I had one) just to make sure there's nothing to worry about and that it is just a pg related murmur which they often are. My scan showed nothing, and I gave birth naturally to my son with no heart-related complications Don't worry, it should all be fine. Good luck x
