Hi girs the HV just came for her visit to introduce their services. Was quite informative and she wasn't fazed about the fact that we had a house rabbit and cat which mil has not stopped complaining about since we got our bfp. Quite informal even though it was a lot of personal question. Just thought I'd post a thread in case any other ftms are wondering what its about. We're in the middle of decorating too so I was worried about the house but straight away she said it was me she was here to see lol x

Thanks for sharing doll_eyes! I'm a FTM and was wondering whether I should be concerned for having a cat... Good! I think I would get crossed if she was moaning about us having a cat! He is our ginger, fluffy baby after all! ;)

Doll eyes I had mine last week, I have 2 dogs and a cat and was worried too... She wasn't bothered at all and if anything said she wanted my cat! Lol. Mine was lovely as well - I was a little worried what to expect but I think she actually better than my midwife!!! Thanks for sharing anyway :) xxxx

Haha he was all over her as well in her bag, she has 4 cats so he could smell them. She thought rosie was a cat too, because shes a lionhead rabbit and all black she does look a bit like a liitle cat or dog lying on the rug. Even breast feeding wasn't a hot topic when I said id not planned on a way of feeding yet. Relieved as id totally imagined a grilling session and house inspection! X

I never realised that they came for a visit before the baby was born.

I best get my butt in gear and change doctors/midwives and address x

Ours loved our cats too! I was worried as my MIL has been very vocal about the potential danger of cats around babies but the HV couldn't get enough of our cats and was more concerned about us being aware of co sleeping and any visitors who smoke (none of our friends or family do so that wasn't an issue either).

I never had visit from HV before 1st baby was born! Is it specific to certain areas?

I didn't have a visit before having my first baby and he's two. This time around they came out before hand, although there wasn't much point. She just asked if any of my details had changed and said none of the guidance had really changed since having my eldest. I found with the HV and mw once they realise youve already had a baby, you know what you're doing and they're not as bothered!

Thanks for sharing doll eyes, that helps me a lot. I don't know if the health visitor will see us before baby is here tbh we get seen 10 days after baby is born by midwife and then after that health visitor and my mil hasn't stopped complaining about the dogs since we got them which was nearly 4 years ago so I hope our HV is okay about them too xxx

Not sure maybe it's trust specific. She filled out a lot of paperwork so there's not so much to do. We see her again twelve days after baby is here. X

Oooh I'm very glad it all went well :) does make me feel a lot better about seeing ours tbh xxx

I've just had a letter through saying they want to introduce me to their services...bit weird as I never had this with my son 18 months ago and obviously since having him I'm fairly familiar with their services! :D

It's a new thing gillyboos! We didn't have it with Riley last year but are supposed to have it this year.

We bumped into our hv a couple of weeks ago at my mw clinic and, as she's not long been here with Riley's 9 month check, she said she's not gonna pop round and waste both of our times but we know where we are if we need her!

She was great about our 4 cats - she was concerned initially as we had 6 but we showed her our various safety measures and she was fine. They're great with Riley, they either scarper or put up with his roughness like saints! He's always monitored as he's a tail and ear grabber, so I always redirect his hands and it's lovely to see them growing a bond with him and he with them.

That'll explain it then Kumber :)
This has reminded me I need to ring as we have moved and I've only just got around to moving Drs, so the HV that has contacted me won't cover our area now. X
