Right in the past couple of days Ellie's new trick if you say 'no' is to repeatedly headbutt the floor, we have a solid wood floor so its not like it doesnt hurt! She does it in a calm way not in a paddy at all, if I tell her to stop she does it more & if i ignore her she carries on until she gets bored or I pick her up to stop her doing it :?

Shes got a big blue bruise in the middle of her forehead & i dont really know what to do to stop her doing it as her head is gunna be a real mess if she carries on! Is this a phase that will pass? Has anyone else been through this? Ta x

Yikes Ava started doing this but more so in a temper way, and it wasnt the floor its anything near-by, she also atm has a bruise from a tantrum at my mums because i told her No because she was pulling my mums doggies Tail, Im hoping its a phase!! And ignoring her while she does it, (hard to though sometimes, when you think shes going to hurt herself) she did start going limp when she was cross, so i ignored that and just layed her down and ignored her and that seems to have worked! because she hasnt done it since,... Im hoping this goes the same way!! Avas 17 months, btw xxxxx And her favorite words are No way :?

Layla does something similar when she's having a tantrum! She sits by the wall and hits the back of her head on the wall. She did it so hard the other day she starting crying  She also tends to throw herself backwards and hit her head on the floor when I take something away from her  I always worry she's going to hurt herself. As tempting as it is I agree that the best course of action is ignoring it. I think the less attention it attracts the less likely it is that she'll do it.

definitely ignore her. Go into another room if possible. She will stop, she just knows that hurting herself gets instant attention from you
