Head engaging?

When does baby's head normally engage? Can you feel the difference to when its out and free?

Just wondering really, my LO was still free at midwife on Tues.

hello!
i saw my specialist today and bubs is 2/5th's engaged,i have felt different for the last week or so as if something had happened as firstly,bump has dropped alot,and secondly,i can breathe again! (lol) and thirdly, i have alot of pressure very low down making me wee for England again,i also feel bubs movements are very very low down almost in my pubic area! and when i walk i feel bump needs holding up

for me it was noticing that bump had dropped & also more pressure down below & needing the loo even more at night!
