Having trouble uploading avatar

I simply can't upload a photo - it just says that upload of file failed.

What type of file are you trying to upload ... PG forum no longer supports gif images as avatars if that helps!

Hi! As far as I know its a JPG - just straight off my laptop

Does it need to be re-sized or something? I try saving the pic in a different location and naming it avatar or whatever and it's always worked.
