Took Ryan for his 2nd haircut today. I took him when he was 11 months and it was awful, he screamed the whole place down for about 20 minutes til it was done.

So I thought I'd let Daddy do it this time. We went together but they said they didn't take card payments so OH had to go to the bank while I stayed with Ryan, and once again he screamed and screamed til he was almost sick. He nearly got his ears chopped off cos he kept throwing his head back and I had to physically hold him down for the whole time!!

Is anyone elses LO like this? His hair grows so quickly so I have no option but to get it done every few months, but I hate seeing him like that :(

Do it yourself kirsty its easy, I do orans all the time, it never looks to bad does it?? lol

We do Aaron's ourselves because he is a nightmare! I just get the clippers on a number 4 and take it off.

I don't think I would dare do it myself

Don't talk to me about clippers... OH cut Josh's hair with them the other day, was meant to be set to an inch or so but half way through he realised the thing on the end had 'fallen off' so Josh had to have a complete skinhead. I actually cried real tears I was so gutted.

So yeah, I might try doing it myself next time. I'll just make sure OH is nowhere near us

PMSL Kirsty yeah keep OH and his clippers away!!

I usually do it when oran is in his highchair (only place he will sit still) and chuck a few Organix Crips or some choccie buttons as a treat on the tray for him to keep him amused, I cut the back bits and around the ears first then I do the fringe but I dont go straight accross, I hold it up in the air and cut down (like what the hairdressers do to us grownups lol) so its not straight and bowl cut looking (I cut it strait the first time and it was wonkey so tried to straighten it up and it looked like a proper bowl cut so I learned my lesson lol). I find its best if you do a little bit at a time, sometimes it takes me all day as I do a tiny bit then he starts stressing so I let him play and do a bit more later on etc. I want it to grow a bit now, but I still trim a tiny bit every month just to tidy it up.

Good luck, show us your before and after pictures next time!

Would he be distracted by a new toy or something like that?

James was always the same, he'd have to be pinned down and would come away with an uneven mess. Then OH started doing it at home with clippers. James still didn't like it at first but soon got used to it when it was his dad doing it. OH still does it for him now, he has a grade 2 and it really suits him :)

LOL no way!! The state he gets himself into is unreal, you'd think somebody was physically hurting him the way he screams and thrashes about.

I'm gonna do it at home next time and see what it's like. I'll buy him a hat just incase I mess it up :rotfl:

This is him before & after:

He's just so cute! I'm thinking that Finn might need a haircut in the not too distant future! It stands on end and it is like ducking hair! It gets him loads of compliments when we're out though.

awww its all gone.............I love his cheeky smile and his flick in his hair - if you keep on top of it hun then you will beable to trim it at home no problem, its if it grows to a length like befor and you want it short like now you might have difficult styling it, especially the sides round the ears!!

Good luck for next time!
