how safe is it, my hair badly needs redying, im not sure if it will have an effect.

Iv just had my hair lightened and then dyed yesterday and bubs is fine (:
Iv heard the stuff they use now is safe :)

Officially hair dye is safe during pregnancy but some people still choose to avoid it. I still dye mine but not as regularly.

I dont during the 1st couple months but have dyed my hair in every pregnacy my aunti is a hair dresser and she says its fine

I must dye my hair just cant be botherd :rotfl:

yes you can dye your hair in pregnancy however your scalp/skin is more sensitive in pregnancy so your more likely to have a reaction, i'd recomend getting a skin test first and going to the hair dressers to get it done :D

Mine desperatley needs doing but im just not prepared to take the risk so im not having mine done while im pregnant.

Thanx girls i shall try get it done b4 the new year :D

i checked hair dyeing with my midwife
she said no risk to baby
hair dye may take slightly differently to normal, eg colour may be slightly different. but i have done mine with no problems

actually been meaning to re-do mine for last few weeks- just haven't quite got round to it- looks minging so must!

Do a sensativity test, leave it on for the 48 hours recommended and see if theres a reaction (though this is suggested everytime you dye your hair) and if theres not, ya good to go. Ive been meaning to dye mine but haven't had the time what with chrimbo coming up.

I was at the haidressers yesterday and asked my hairdresser, she said its fine if you are getting foils etc but due to hormones there can be reactions if the colour is going to be touching the scalp

I believe it's safe, but I would also recommend this. I had my hair dyed last week, I left it in the first three months but my roots were awful, so I went to the hairdressers and had a skin test done first. They left it for 24 hours to make sure there was no reaction, and then I went back to have it done. I also asked my Midwife and she said it was safe, otherwise I wouldn't have had it done!

i've heard it's safe like everyone's saying. i dye my hair like nobodies business at the moment but i don't think i will while i'm pregnant. but that's just me :)

I dyed mine yesterday - read up on it, asked hairdressers etc and all seemed fine so i did it. I try not to be too paranoid about these things or you can really jsut stop living for 9 months but each to thier own and can understand if people feel reluctant to but there is no eveidence to suggest it isnt safe. midwifes say it;s okay so it must be. Just think, Hairdressers that are pregnant breathe in these fumes day in day out for months in confined rooms and have healthy babies.

I did mine but waited til I was 13 weeks, my midwife and hairdresser said it would be fine, I look rubbish enough anyway without bad hair!

i dyed mine 3 times in the first 3 months cos i didnt know i was preggers :(

i didnt want to do it again (personal choice) but the state of my hair is getting me down :( so might dye it close to my natural colour so i dont have to do it again

Its really down to personal choice, I have heard its safe, so long as the colour/bleach is not directly applied to the scalp as there is a risk the particles may pass through into the bloodstream; but its highly unlikely.

This is always a debated subject, and something only you can decide.

Ive had highlights in my last pregnancy and this pregnancy, at regular intervals.

Same here id prefer not to dye it just in case, but the state its gotten into does get me down i look like a tramp, with looking tired and spots everywhere at least i can sort out my hair and start to feel better about myself.
