My gums are swollen and keep bleeding, think I may have a bit of gum diesase which i believe it common in pregnancy.... I just wondered do I need to see my dentist about this or will using an antiseptic mouthwash be ok?

My teeth actually started to move last pregnancy and opened up a huge gap in between the front 2  Luckily they don't seem to have moved this time. I was due to have them corrected but then fell pregnant again so I've had to put up with it even longer and it really annoys me.....especially since I had years of orthadontic treatment as a child. Anyway, I'll be getting something done come Feb next year, it'll cost ££££ but I don't care.

It's a pain though, but at least it's not forever. At least dental care is free when you're pregnant and for a year after.

My grandmother lost loads of teeth when she was pregnant... my mum too.. they both got gingivitis when they were pregnant so I've always been really wary when I've got pregnant. Last time it wasn't that bad but this time.... OMG... There is just blood everywhere..

I went and got my gums cleaned around 20wks... and made my dentists surgery look like the Texas Chainsaw massacre... thats what my sink looks like everynight.

Best thing to do, go see your dentist and get your teeth cleaned.. do it now cos it's free in the UK... then use a special mouth wash called... cordosyl (sp???) http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/den ... -300ml.asp

Its very good... :)

I had my teeth cleaned about a month ago so doesnt need doing again I dont think, I have them done every 6 months with my checkup. Ive been using listerine past few days so hopefully that will help cos cant stand cordosyl is gross!! If it doesnt clear up ill take a trip to dentist i think :) Thanks chick

Well I had mine cleaned (quite viciously too  Spanish dentists are evil  ) and mine still bleed every time I brush them... The codosyl mouth wash... I hate it too.. but its the best around for these sorta things... I don't use it everyday because of the taste but after a few days of using it I find my gums don't bleed... and after a few days of not using it... they are bleeding loads again.

I went to the dentist this morning but she said she wouldn't do a scale & polish until after I've had the baby AND when I walked in the dentist was a girl that I went to High School with & she was in the year below me

Arghhhh it was abit wierd having her poking round my mouth.

Cordosyl is minging - but good. Might be worth giving it a try
