Hello!

Just wondering, for those of you that have been for a GTT what was your fasting result, and then your result after 2 hours?

I'm reading conflicting advice online!

I've read that recently they have changed the cut off to 5.0? I wasn't told much at the hospital this morning and stupidly didn't ask!

Also, if your fasting result is within range is that usually an indicator that you won't have GD or is it more to do with how your body reacts to the sugar after the fasting? My fasting result was 5.2 so hoping I'll be ok!

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!! X

Mine was 5.3 and they want it to be that or under. However my 2hr one was 8.2.

I think they look at both and if either are raised then it's GD. The fasting one is harder to control with diet I believe x

Thanks! So with the 8.2 reading, were you diagnosed with GD? X

With my daughter my fasting was 5.2 and my 2 hour was 7.9

With this pregnancy my fasting was 5.6 and my 2 hour was 6.9

I got diagnosed after both results and currently diet controlled still at 36 weeks +

Yep I got diagnosed just based on the 8.2. I have found it all to be a bit arbitrary tbh, considering what counts as diabetes in non-pregnancy. But currently doing as I'm told and neither of the readings I've done today (got the glucose meter this afternoon) have been anywhere near that high. Will be interested in the fasting one in the morning.

Lolie, is there a best time to do the morning one? Do I do it like you would basal temp first thing? Or within an hour of waking? Or just at some point before eating?

I take it just before I eat my bfast, unless I'm going to be up for a while before eating in which case I take it as soon as I wake up. Your blood sugar will naturally rise as that's what wakes you up and I've found I get a higher reading the longer I go before eating. See what works best for you.

Ah okay ty :) As long as I don't have to rush around first thing that's fine, I can barely throw myself in the shower early on! I usually get up at 725, leave the house at 820 and eat breakfast at work at about 850-9. So I think I'll do it at home just before I go tomorrow.

How did you get on this morning with your reading?
