Hope someone might be able to shed some light for me or at least help me speculate. I plan to ask my midwife tomorrow but as she is community midwife and it is the hospital consultant that made the decision I doubt she will be able to help much.

I had a 28 week growth scan yesterday. Purely routine as I have a high BMI. At my first consultant appointment was told to book them in for 28 and then 36 weeks. In my appointment after the scan yesterday the consultant looked at it all on the charts in my notes and asked me to book in another scan at 32 weeks rather than wait 8 weeks. Yet both he and the sonographer said everything was measuring fine.

On the screen when the dates for measurements were coming up they were all about a week less than my current dates but on the computer generated graphs looked to be spot of 50th percentile. Yet when consultant plotted the overall measurements by hand it looked like my measurements were between the 10th and 50th percentile lines. I wonder if this is why he has asked me to book another scan but then surely they would have said that baby was measuring small.

I was not expecting a huge baby as me and OH were both small so I am not worried if baby is a week or so smaller but seems odd to be booked in for another one and yet them not say why. Wish I had asked but I had been at the hopsital most of the day and was glad to be going home.

My growth scans are 28 weeks and 33 weeks. Was supposed to be 28-34 then after his legs measured short at a 25 week one they moved it forward to 32 weeks. (32 weeks was cancelled so have to wait until 33 weeks now) he measured fine at my 28 week scan, spot on all measurements but I still have to go in for the now 33 week growth scan. Hope that makes sense. I wouldn't worry. If they think something is out they will tell you from my experience xx just enjoy seeing baby again :) xx

I had a growth scan and mine showed baby measuring big. The sonographer who did mine explained what she checks for in growths scans and one thing is the amount of fluid surrounding baby. Did they say whether the fluid was normal? It could be that because baby is measuring small they want to make sure the amount of fluid surrounding baby is consistent. It's worth checking with your midwife if you're worried as there might be something in your notes that she'll understand

Hope things turn out ok for you :) x x

Did they give you an estimated weight?

I had a growth scan at 28 weeks due to bleeding on and off throughout the pregnancy. My BMI is also high. Baby was on the 50th percentile, but they've not booked another one so having nothing to compare it too.

I'm not sure on this, I asked for a growth scan with my first as i thought she was big, I was refused it and she was 10lb 1oz!

However, I think if they're worried about anything they're normally pretty good at saying it, so I wouldn't read too much in to it. At least you have another scan soon, you can ask more questions then x

Thanks guys. Consultant said that fluid was fine. Hoping he was just being thorough as previously I had only seen the registrar. I think the estimated weight was where baby came up a little small. Will ask my midwife in the morning as she might have a better idea. Unfortunately consultants handwriting typicallu looks like a spider crawled across the page so I cant read his writing, lol.

Not moaning about getting to see baby again tho makes it harder each time to stay team yellow and the car park costs a fortune. X
