at least you know you're having an internal scan. I didn't so it was a bit of a shock...
If you're having an internal (transvaginal), it's best done on an empty bladder, so try not to drink too much tomorrow morning, and give yourself time for a wee when you get to the hospital. Again, I didn't know, so my bladder was totally full as I'd been drinking loads in preparation for a transabdominal scan - and then I had to try to pee it all out under pressure.
And take something to read - at my hospital it turned out they don't do appointments, it's first come first served. I was told to get there for 9am, and I arrived at 8.50 for a clinic that opened at 9 only to find the waiting room already full. I didn't get the scan till about 10.30. I hope your appointment time actually is an appointment!
I went through exactly the same thing as you on Tuesday morning - I'd been having a little brown spotting and was 6w6d by LMP. Don't worry too much if what they find is smaller than expected - if you don't know exactly when you ovulated, it's very possible that you could be much earlier on than you think. If you can, try to find out (and write down) any measurements they have - the first thing to appear on the scan is the gestational sac, and that might be all they see at an early stage. Then there's the yolk sac, and then a foetal pole (the embryo), and then they see a heartbeat. If they can't see anything at this stage, they should ask you to come back in 7-10 days time for another scan, just in case - you could easily be a week behind where you think you are - so try not to worry. For the gestational sac, they take three measurements and work out the average. They use that to work out the gestational age of the pregnancy, and based on that measurement, what should be visible at that stage.
FYI, when they do an internal, they use something that looks pretty similar to a vibrator and put a condom over the end - if you're allergic to rubber, let them know. It shouldn't be painful.
HTH - best of luck for tomorrow, will keep my fingers crossed for you!
