I have been given some baby clothes from my sister and best friend, have sorted through them today ( :D loved it!) and not sure how much else I need to get....

I have:
14 x vests/bodysuits
3 x sleepsuits
1 x booties
2 x scratch mitts
1 x trousers
1 x t-shirt
2 x hats
1 x coat

These are all 0-3months. I am planning on buying 5 x vests, and 5 x sleepsuits in newborn (women in my family tend to have big babies so dont want to buy too many of these). I'm also assuming people will buy us alot of 0-3 stuff so on top of the 0-3 i already have, what else do I need to buy?

For an ickle bub I wouldn't bother with too many outfits but I would definitely get some more sleepsuits. I like Next ones the best. Maybe a couple of cardis?

I agree, Next to the nicest sleepsuits, with built in scratch mits which are awesome!

I'd wait and see what sort of weight the baby was before buying too many outfits, maybe a couple of neutral ones.

more sleepsuits , if you have a sicky baby u might be changing alot ! leland was born 6lb5 and nb were tooo big , he had to have tiny baby so i would get some nb just in case

I agree too! :cheer:

Wow Im SO envious - what a lovely thing, sorting through the babys clothes before he/she comes - breathe in every second of it - its such a beautiful time, full of nervous wonder and excitement!

Can you tell I want another?! :wall:

Sleepsuits are so soft and comfy and EASY for the little one, especially when they are so small and new

Good luck! xxxxx

I agree about sleepsuits, my LO lived on them for the first two months or so! They are very handy.

Thanks ladies, think I'll get a few more 0-3 sleepsuits and some cardi's, and a couple more pairs of booties and mitts. My OH or mum can always go out and buy more when I'm in hosp. Just dont want too many neutral things as will want Troy in boys or girls clothes, obviously depending what sex he is!!

I know I'm a little early for all this, but its better to be prepared, I say :D

Definately more sleepsuits, get the ones with the built in scratch mitts rather than using seperate ones. I had to change Hannahs sleepsuits at least 3 times a day when she was tiny due to runny poos escaping from her nappy :(

Apart from that, a decent snowsuit and also a coat without a hood. I found that when I put Hannah in her car seat the hood was too big and flopped over her eyes which made her cry, and if I tucked it behind her it was uncomfortable.

I was talking to my mate about sizes etc and she thought everyone would buy her newborn and they never everyone bought her 0-3 so she had to go out and buy newborn stuff  so ive made sure that i have both sizes just to make sure :)

My baby was 8lbs 7oz when born, so not a small baby but 0-3 month clothes absolutely drown him - remember babies loose quite a lot of their birth weight (can be as much as 10% straight after they are born), I bought 6 sleepsuits in newborn (and about 10 newborn vest) and just had to buy another 2 sleepsuits - sometimes he needs changing twice a day, if sicky or had really bad nappies!

I would think he will be in the newborn clothes for another few weeks and he is growing fast!

Molly still wears some newborn stuff. I didn't realise a few of her tops were newborn until yesterday and they fit her really well, in fact the one she has on today is a bit too big for her  She's also got 'up to one month' stuff from next which fits.

She's a little shorty though!

What kind of a summer are you expecting, Jenny?! chrest is due in July, same as me  I so hope it doesn't snow...

chrest - lots of retailers do fast delivery from online orders anyway. You're going to be stuck in the house for a bit after the birth, and hopefully the baby will sleep a little bit, so you can do lots of online shopping for your pink/blue extras then... as long as you have enough stuff to see you through the first 2-3 weeks (in both sizes!), don't worry too much about the rest. I'm banking on an hour or 2 of happy online gender-specific shopping in the first week to help with the dreaded baby blues... We're not finding out the sex till birth either and I don't want to get everything plain white or cream. I don't particularly want blue or pink either but the neutral stuff is so boring!

There has to be a market out there for exciting newborn gender-neutral clothing

Most gender neutral stuff is awfull. I hate all the white and beige and teddy bears on it. I got a load of stuff from H&M which was so cute and different. Next had awesome black and white stuff which I got too and it's still my favourite stuff. My MIL got me some nice stuff from M&S too which was gender neutral but funky.

I'm deffo not a pink person! I love red and Molly suits it but people tend to think she's a boy a lot cos of it
