as i finally finsihed spotting yesterday i was gonna start recording my temperature today and i bloody forgot
not off to a good start! i thought i was liberating myself coming off the pill but no its STILL down to ME to remember to do something every day!

what is is i'm lloking for then, should it be exactly the same until i ovulate then it rises? or does it fluctuate a bit anyway? how much is it spose to rise?

i'll have to start tomorrow now :shakehead:

i knew i forgot something when i went shopping!

(not much help i know )

i got pink grapefruit juice and my angus castus (which i need to make a post about in a minute) but forgot thermometer!

this threads been very helpful in jogging my memory

Hi hon. Your temp should fluctuate only slightly until you ovulate, and then it should go up noticeably immediately. That said, some people are 'slow risers' in that their temp after they ovulate goes up in little incriments and then stays steadily high for a few days before coming back down again before af.

Does this mean you'll be joining us in the chartstalkers thread??

Hope this helps!

set your alarm every moring a hour before you normaly get up to take it
and put the thermomoter right by the alarm clock :D

I don't set my alarm an hour before I get up, I just do mine when my alarm goes off in the mornings before I get up. It should be the same time every day though, and dont do anything before you take it. I dont even sit up!

dont even sit up?!?! eep didnt realise it had to be QUITE so precise! this is going to be very tricky indeed because my daughter wakes up at slightly fluctuating times every morning for her milk (about 5/6am) so i have to get up for her, then we sleep together for a couple of hours. so do i take it at 5/6am while she's crying or wait until we all wake up (in which case i wouldve already been up and about and not laying still for the past 8 hours) :? oh and on mondays, tuesdays and saturdays its different again coz i am up for work! and mondays alarm is 6am (as gotta take millie to my parents first), tuesdays its 6.30 (as millie's over there so no getting her ready) and saturdays its 7am (no traffic and boyf looks after millie)

so its near impossible for me to be precise with my temperature :(

is that gonna ballz it all up then? should i still bother doing it? :(

Ok, the best time to do it is when you first wake up, so whenever that NORMALLY is, as long as you do it within 45 mins to an hour of the same time each day, it will be accurate enough. You have to do it after at least 3 hours of sleep as well, so doing it after you and your little one have your morning nap won't work, I'm afraid.

I use a digital thermometer so that it wakes me up when it beeps, because I inevitably doze off with the thing in my mouth in the morning - I wake up just enough when the alarm goes off to put the thermo in my mouth! I've got it right next to my side of the bed.

Yep, honeybee. lol My middle name means 'sympathetic'. I've decided neither really suit me much, but how were my parents to know?

so when melissa wakes up for her milk i should do it then? not after iv brought her back to bed and dozed for another 90 minutes or so? can i stick it in my mouth and go and pick her up and bring her to bed with it hanging out of my mouth like a fag? or do i have to sit and wait for the beep while the poor lass waits paitiently? (well, cries, not patiently! lol)

Nope, you have to wait, I'm afraid. The minute you start moving around, it starts the blood pumping around and it immediately raises your temp so you can't get an accurate reading. That's the theory, anyway - in honesty it probably varies from person to person, and you'll just have to find out what works best for you. But you'll want to do it before you feed her, yes. Sounds like you might want to invest in a fast-acting thermo!!
