I had a really fab time with my midwife today she is so lovely went through everything really reassured me on everything, but came bearing bad news... i have strep B and have to have a drip with antibiotics during labour so i dont pass it on to my newborn else it could cause serious problems and make her very sick. some pregnant women develop it due to hormones late in pregnancy and i happen to be one of them :( on a good note, now i get my homebirth and yes those were braxton hicks lastnight but she thinks as soon as my cervix softens a little more my waters are bound to break possibly this week as her head is extremely low for not being in labour yet. she peeked around our house, the room were going to birth in, had a look through my birthing box and i have everything ready to go and she seemed very happy. my BP dropped back to normal so that was good and she did a little dance for her and had hiccups while she was checking her heartbeat :) overall it went well but im worried about this whole strep b thing. she also said stay close to home now as it wont be long!! :cheer: and im not to go to thunder bay (3 hours drive) tomorrow for xmas shopping unless i want my labour in a random hospital  so im staying put  how did your home visit go Keelie? xxx

Yay on the good news! Boo on the Strep hun! So will they bring the IV drip with them when your in labour?! Your lucky your in Canada as they wouldnt do that here I dont think!

yes i have to have a consultation visit this week and get the meds and as soon as my waters break or i start getting contractions they middy will come over to put a drip n my arm :(

wow your mw sounds great, its lovely that they'd do that at home for you. So if your having a homebirth you can update us on your own labour thread, and no excuses for not giving us every little update as soon as something happens!!  hey you never know might be good to take your mind off things :D

Sorry to hear about the Group B strep and that you'll have to be on a drip :( exciting that it could be any day now tho, you'll have to do your shopping online!
I was thinking about you earlier actually, your babies been so well behaved doing exactly what she's supposed to, i thought you'd have had her by now.

Thanks for asking about my appointment im very touched, you've probably seen my post now cos i've not shut up about it but think il be having him next Friday by the latest! chances are my waters wil break before then because of babies position(will be a section either way)
So i have 9 days left to see if my waters break, and your ready to pop anyway.
THE RACE IS ON!!........

not long now hun

you better be online today missy! other wise we'll know you've gone to thunder bay :shakehead:

im here im here :rotfl: its half 6 and my hunger woke me!!

not long to go!!!! :cheer:

i too have the strep B hun... :( just finished a course of ABs now but I still have to have them in labour. I've been told that where I am they like to give you 2 doses 4 hours apart (each dose runs through IV in 30mins) so not too bad. If I get these then it should mean baby wont have to have any ABs. If I dont get these (i.e labour was too short ..yeh as if  ) then baby gets ABs as a precaution... I'm quite pleased cause it means i'll only be attached to the drip for a short time and can bounce about the rest of the time (the midwives are very big on active birth etc where I am).... :cheer:

thats FAB that you can still have your homebirth tho and its not a contraindication!
