After being unsure what i could organise from afar, (and having a dread of crowded hospitals ) i wrote to my midwife asking her how i could organise a home birth bearing in mind i wont even be home til 5 days before my due date :?

she called me today! she said thats absolutely fine, all i need to do is check in to see her when im back home, but if i get home and go into labour before i have a chance to see her just call and she or any other midwife will come out.

That was easy!!!! Except i dont have any other number to call if she wasnt available  would i call the hospital mainline in that case??

(Of course if something went wrong i know id still have to go to hospital but if it was vital i would do it no question .)

feel a lot better knowing i have that option now. :D

good one...they seem to encourage it nowadays...

prob cos it spares hospital beds!!

That's great news!

Perhaps just give the MW a quick ring and ask her who you would ring incase of not being able to get hold of her. Am sure she'd be able to give you some alternative phone numbers.

Call labour ward at the hospital. That was where we were told to ring with any queries.

its about the first thing thats been simple lol!

OH has decided he wants to be there aswell.....still not sure its a good idea tho , when he caught a glimpse of a birth photo in a book yesterday and started gagging
