Going for early scan following concerns!!! Nervous

Hi all

This is my first time on this website but you all seem so supportive I thought I would join too, I went to my doctor today due to having a lot of period like pain the doctor examined me and held a stethoscope to my tummy but said nothing he then called the hospital to book me in for a scan! I asked him why and he said just to check your pregnancy is in the right place. Now I'm really worried that he didn't really say much and that he is hiding something?? Has anyone else had this? I've only had pain and no bleeding and I'm
6 weeks pregnant!

welcome! he wouldnt hear much with a scope anyway so hes prob taking precaution! lucky u not many gp's like that around!!

Hiya and welcome! I'm kind of in the same boat as u, I also had some brown discharge so the doctor sent me for a scan. The lady doing my scan wasn't too happy that I got sent so early as she said I more than likely wouldn't see much. I just seen the sac with no yolk sac or baby so iv another scan nxt week and I'm so nervous. They also wanted to check it wasn't extopic as I had pains like u. Its all routine just to ensure ur pregnancy is going well and the pains aren't because of an exctopic or anything, so try not to worry 2 much, u aren't alone xxxx

Its good that your doc is sending you for a scan just to be sure its not ectopic

I'm sure all will be fine, cramps are very common is early pregnancy, theres lots going on down there, muscles and ligiments are stretching, try not to worry

Oh I see I wasn't sure if it was possible or not and he didn't give anything away so was kind of in the dark about it! My scan is on Wednesday at my local nhs hospital in Kent!

This is my first pregnancy so think the worst is going through my mind!

Thank you ladies you've put my mind at rest I'm generally a worrier anyway but I've read so many posts with women saying they just think the worst! It's an amazing time but nerve racking nearly everyday, I just need to learn to enjoy this amazing thing that's happened!

It's strange isnt it you pray for that positive result and are so happy when you get it but from that moment on it's panic stations lol! I'm sure once I get Wednesday out the way it will ease my worries! I'm due on 30th April I can't wait, I have polysystic ovaries and always thought pregnancy would never happen so am over the moon that I am now a mummy to be  xx

Hi hun, welcome and congrats. I have had period like pains since before i found out i was preg, they were quite bad for a couple of weeks, but seem to have settled down now. I still get them occasionally. Alot of laides on here have had them so its nothing to worry about, Good luck for ur scan xx

Firstly congrats secondly no matter who we are we all are bricking it about the scan(s) completly normal to get cramps and how reassuring tohave a good gp while most symptoms are normal ul find lots to worry about even if everything is fine. And tho u may read lots of bad things on here remember there is a Hell of a lot more positive things going on not that it will stop u worrying (and I wish I could take my own advice instead of constantly fretting!!!) Best of luck n hopefully all is well and ul just have extra pics to treasure xx

Good luck for your scan, try not to worry, they will just want to check everythings ok cause of the pain you had, but lots of sight pains and changes with pregnancy so , all should be well - congrats by the way!

Hi ladies

Just to let you know all was fine I was told I was 5 weeks and 5 days rather then 6 weeks but she said all is good! We even saw the heartbeat it was like a little flickering light! I'm so happy and relieved!!! Thanks for all your positive comments  xxxx

Hi Katie_G,

Your due date is the same as mine. And I had an early scan at 5+3 to rule out an ectopic as I had pains but no bleeding. Everything was fine, didn't see a lot, just sac and yolk but right on track. I have to go back on the 15th for a follow up scan where hopefully we will see a heartbeat and check the poles.

I'm so glad that everything was alright for you!!!
