Hi Ladies,

Was wondering if anyone can give me advice on what I would need to do to help make my camping trip a little easier.

We are going in August when I am 6 months pregnant. I am not one to over stress about things and have been sleeping really well up till now so am hoping that all will be OK.

We are going to try and find me an extra wide campbed to sleep on and then also investing in a chemical toilet as chances are we will need this for the little one for future camping trips.

Am I being really crazy doing this? Have looked on other forums and there are women camping at 32 weeks and such... I will be 28 weeks. :-)

I'll be joining you!
I'm planning on going camping in August and I'll be 32/33 weeks then! I went camping with my cousin 6 years ago when she was pregnant. We went in Augst and she gave birth on the 23rd September..... she managed fine, although I was sharing the tent/campbed with her for the week and wouldn't dare move incase I knocked and rolled into her. I think I had a worse week than her!! lol! xxx

Glad ot hear someone else is being crazy too... :-) We are planning on getting a single (but wide) campbed just for me. OH is going to sleep on airbed that keeps going down. :-)

My biggest worry is having to use the chemical toilet in the middle of the night while my OH is there. Am very private about my toilet going ons. :-)

We are off to the Isle of Wight with my Brother in law, his wife and two little girls... Think the girls will spend the whole week talking to baby and touching my stomach. Hopefull ythat will mean baby will sleep during the night which wwill give me rest too. :-)

Im a keen camper too, we've got an old VW camper van so I'll be camping till I give birth and if weather not bad after too! We're going round france this summer and got lots of shows and weekends planned. Chemical toilet will prob help a lot! Get a little toilet tent, they are quite cheap, save your blushes! don't think there will be any other problems, after all that late in pregnancy your uncomfortable whatever you sleep on! I've been camping a couple of times already this pregnancy and only annoying problem was the toilet trips, but this is always annoying where ever you are!

You go girls! Its nice to see that you gals still go camping even when pregnant. Now that I'm on mat leave, and will hopefully have some surplus cash soon, I too will be indulging at some point :) Dogs and all! Woohoo :) x

im camping too in august x x and its all new to me so im extra nervous!!! lol

Glad someone mentioned this. We were talking about going camping the other night but I wasn't sure if I'd feel like it when the time comes. My friends think I'm crazy for even thinking about it but I'm already looking forward too it. We've got 2 dogs so I like to go away and include them too.

We always take the dogs :) Once it was so wet and windy...like gale force winds, and we sat in the car looking at our tent getting severely wind beaten that we and our two dogs all slept overnight in the car  x

Have been to the outdoor shop this evening and bought a three layer airbed that has an inbuilt electric inflater so I don't even have to get out of the bed to blow it up again. Hopefully it will stay inflated anyway. We also got ourselves a chemical toilet so I am not having to go for a trek at all hours of the night...

So all sorted. :-) Thanks all for giving me the confidence that I can do this....

I'm going camping for my daughters birthday at the start of June for a few days i shall be.. 37 weeks. Not really thought about getting anything extra to make it more comfortable, was just going to wing it and see what happens.

I'm sure we'll all be fine! Like someone mentioned I reckon where ever it is we sleep so late on in pregnancy it's gonna be uncomfortable so why not be away for the week/ weekend and being enjoying yourself rather than being stuff in the house in a mood wishing you were away camping !!! :D xx

I completely agree PrincessPeanut... :-) But do ask me again in August after I have been away. :-)

We'll have to do another thread after the camping see if we're all still so keen lol!

Hey well thought i would give u an update on what its like camping the whole weekend at 38 weeks pregnant.. Overall its not too bad. The camping seats you buy are very uncomfortable, would recommend taking your sofa.. haha. nah i found sitting on a blanket on the grass a lot better than sitting on a seat. I got to sleep in a campervan so sleeping was fine - only problem was it was ROASTING and i was cooking alive while trying to sleep, esp with it being such a small space and my other half beside me but it was fine once I had kicked him to death :). I would advise that you set up your tents/campervan etc near the toilet block as well if you are on a campsite as the several trips through out the night for the toilet wasn't very enjoyable as we were at the opposite side from them. So apart from being uncomfortable and peeing every half an hour, it was good :). would probably do it again although I am suffering a but today for it. Could do with a few more hours sleep but then as I'm still working that might have something to do with the tiredness im suffering from too.

So jealous of all you August campers! OH and I went camping last August and we wanted to go again this year but being due August 15th we decided we couldn't really :( We'd go earlier but neither of us drive so have to carry everything in backpacks and I can't imagine me coping too well with that being heavily pregnant :/ lol Ahh well Have to wait til next year :) But have fun everyone :D xx

So glad to have come across this post as we're actually debating at the moment going camping this summer! Being pregnant I couldn't face a holiday abroad this year in the heat so we thought we would have a little camping trip down to Cornwall as OH and I have never been :oooo: I will be about 26 weeks by the time we go, after reading responses on here it's given me the confidence now to go for it! Thanks girls x x

That's good to know hun! thanks!
I'm planning on going last weekend in august and I'll be about 4 weeks from dropping! Planning on taking things with us just incase little miss decides to come early but if she's like her Dad I'll be waiting to be induced!! lol!! xx
