Hiya, I was just wondering about the investigations you get done after TTC for a while (with no success obviously :( ). I have made an appt with GP for 2 weeks time to get the ball rolling but what I was wondering is how long it takes to get the lap and dye or whatever technique it is they use to visualise your 'bits and pieces' lol. I gather some people on here have had similar stuff done so could you tell me how long you had to wait from initial consultation? Cheers for any info. :)

I first went to my gp at the start of June he did a load of bloods with me and then my DH had to do a sample when we got DH results back (a week later) he then got back in touch with the hospital to get things moving. We waited for about 3 weeks before we got a letter from the hospital to confirm dates of going in to talk to the fertility specialist.

I had my first appointment with the fertility specialist July 14th that was just a chat about my periods etc and we spoke about an HSG (that is where they insert some dye and take xrays) and then she took some samples from me like a smear test as they need to check for  I can not remember  I then went back on the 23rd July for an ultrasound to see if I had PCOS. I had to have that done internal as they could not get a proper reading. I was meant to ring them as soon as af arrived to book in for my hsg but she has not turned up so I am now booked in for that on 08 Oct. I can not bd from 24 September until I have had HSG as you can not be pregnant for it. I then have my appointment with the consultant to see what happens then hopefully just some medication.

I have found it myself a long process I am not sure if everyone feels like this? but I am feeling positive as I am slowly getting answers.

Hope this helps and that you get some answers soon

Thanks for replying, well I am quite happy with that sort of time frame - I was thinking it could be a year or so to get scans etc so a couple of months is def an improvement on my expectations! Good luck with your tests x

Hiya
I went to see my GP last Sept after TTC for a year. I had my first app with fertility clinic in jan but they cocked up the hospital i was meant to attend. My amended app was March then they did a smear like test then i had to go for Day 2 and Day 21 blood tests and OH for sperm tests. We went back again in June for results and have been waiting since then for a Hyscosy which i got as fonecall yesterday telling me its been booked for 10/10.
I am getting a bit stressed at how long it is all taking as I have just turned 36 and I am not much further on a year down the line. I have another app with my GP 1/10 and am going to see about going private. Hope it works better for you, even the consultants secretary who foned me last nite said i was having a nightmare. It just all adds to the stress.
Lots of babydust xx

Hiya, well I went to the doc yesterday and discussed things with her. Unfortunately she said I have to wait till Jan to go back and get referred - so I will have been TTC no 2 for 21 months by then. And by the time I get seen I will have been TTC for 2 years, this seems like a long wait to me but she said they wont entertain me till the 2 year point. How crap is that?! I am not too happy about it but if thats the rules there aint much I can do about it. Is it because I am 29 (ie under30) that I have to wait longer? I dont know who decides these things! :?

When we were ttc we were referred in the Novmber, had the lap and dye in early March, had a few trips up and down to the ivf clinic and were due to start ivf in October but I got pg the week I was due to start.
