hi my baby is 8 days old and has threw up every bottle since the day he was born, doctors in hospital just put it down to him bein a mucusy baby,he only takes 2 oz as it is and only weighed 5lb 3oz when born, this is really worryin me now and im takin him doctors today coz if it was mucus id hav thought it would hav cleared by now.i wind him after every half oz and he still projectile vomits it everywhere about 5 mins after he's finished, and he starts out like he's starvin when i first start feedin him then after a min or so he starts fidgitin and cryin like he's in pain.someone has told me that gaviscon in the bottles with the milk can help?? has anyone else heard this? this is my 5th baby and iv never heard of doin this b4,youd think that would make the milk taste yuck?? xxxx

It Sounds like he's got reflux Hun, you can't put normall Gaviscon in the bottles but the doctors can prescribe infant Gaviscon which is powder in little Sachets xx

Definitely sounds like reflux. Hope you get it sorted. xx

Poor LO, id book an appointment with your doc hun and see if they will prescribe infant gaviscon :hugs: x x

I've not really much advice but my LO has thrown up the whole bottle once or twice since birth & is always hungry again straight away. Its annoying esp if you've sat for an hour feeding 5oz then need to do it all over again

My nephew had gaviscon in his bottle right up till he went on cows milk. He had terrible reflux from very early and the gaviscon really helped. xxxxxxxxxx

are you sure he's not lactose intolerant? or have you changed his formula brand, the one youre on may not agree with him ...Ive just assumed that hes on forumla and not breast milk in a bottle? if breastmilk have you looked at what youre eating? sorry being as hes not your first I think youd probably know this already just thought Id cover all bases xxx

Also ask ur doc about refux formula , its a great help for reflux. Or even "staydown" milk

A had the same with formula and he is lactose intolerant, his reflux is much better now,I also put Gaviscon into his topup bottles

i have wonderd this if he might be intolerant,he's been on cow n gate since birth.iv thought about maybe changin it to sma but i think il get the doc to check him over first coz really dont want to upset his stomach anymore than ness.when he is sick its not just milk that comes up,its like full of clear slimy stuff, when he was in hospital it was all mucusy and browny coloured but now its clear.xxx

never heard of these kind of milks b4,can u buy it in shops or does that need to be prescribed? xxx

You can buy aptamil comfort milk in supermarkets its thicker & has reduced Lactose. my little girl is Lactose intolerant she used to scream constantly, have horrible Nappies & was sick lots! she also took 5 weeks to regain her birth weight & never did gain weight very well until she was prescribed Lactose free formula xx

his nappies seem normal, its just the cryin and fidgitin when he feeds, after about 1 minute with the bottle he looks really uncomfy like he's got pains.then u can see his stomach startin to pump and the full feed is back....usually all over me lol!! definatly takin him doctors today, stupid doctors was full yesterday so iv to ring up at 8.30 to make sure he gets seen today.thanku for helpin me out with your advice, its reassurin to know that it seems alot of babies have this and its easy cured. :) xxx

Hope you get it sorted hun . Im having feeding issues myself so I know how you feel , hopefully its something easily fixed`x````

thanku ladies, henleys goin doctors at 5.30 so hopefully will get something, its startin to get me down abit....feel like cryin :(.he's so unsettled and cryin all the time when feedin.its makin me stressed now and i hate myself for feeling this way,i was lovin havin my new son and was really happy and cheerfull towards everyone.now im feelin awfull!!! hope its not baby blues or something :(:( xxx

I done nothing but cry when Tegan was like that, as she's my first i was convinced i was doing something wrong! we were breastfeeding too so nobody could help. let us know how he gets on Hun :hugs: xx

as soon as joshua was born he would have a bottle and scream and then vomit and scream and feed and vomit and scream and vomit and feed and scream and scream...literally for 12 hours a day and occasionally he would nap for half an hour. It was hell. He would also have HORRENDOUS nappies like pretty much water and he was practically SWIMMING in it and im not exagerrating. what are henleys nappies like?

Oh forgot to say joshua had a cows milk protein intolerance! We found though we HAD to FIGHT and FIGHT to get his milk changed. How was the dr hun x

hi ladies......well..took him doctors yesterday and was told to go straight 2 hospital :( was really shocked and scared at this point after she told me he might have this thing ( cant remember the name now and cant find the sheet she gave me) its where the valve is too thick and makes the baby projectile vomit and requires an operation thru keyhole surgery to make it wider  ..... she said he was showin all the classic signs,i mentioned that u all thought he might just need the gaviscon in the milk but she seemed worried that it was more serious.so i took him straight away,he went straight to xray and had blood and urine took and tried to get a drip in his tiny tiny hand but failed first time on the first hand...had him screamin so much that he nearly stopped breathin !!! then tried the other hand..same again, doctor said he'd try 1 more time in the hand then he was gonna try the feet to find a good vein,i was nearly sick with the upset it was causin henley and told him if he failed again then they could just get off him coz i couldnt bere the screams outa him,it was so awfull, they did get it in after that thankgod! they tried him on the gaviscon while they waited 4 the results and thankfully they all came back clear :) :) they kept us in overnight and carried on with the gaviscon and he hasnt been sick since :) and has been so content its unreal the difference in him,he's like a different baby, just got discharged a few hours ago.doctor said to keep him on it till he's atleast 6 monthes old and to maybe try the odd feed without it in a few weeks to see if he can tolerate milk without it,if not he can just stay on it.i am so so happy and feel great again,i was startin to worry yesterday about the way i was startin to feel.thanku sooo much for your help ladies.xxxx
