From co sleeping to cot

My co sleeping is coming to an end Jake is crawling now and it's just not safe any more as he crawls out of the bed if he can! gonna order a cot today and pull it close to my bed to get him used to being in it but still having me close, if anyone else has done this already, any tips would be welcome, thanks xxx

I haven't done it but ATM I have the cot against the bed with a side off and I'm getting him used to being in it. The plan is to eventually put the side on but next to me, then move it across the room itkwim?

Gonna kinda do that but leave the side on but pulled down so I can still reach through the bars so he knows I'm close xx

I was going to suggest the same putting the cot next to the bed with the side off to get him use to it . Xxx

I co-sleep some nights, and others Samira is in her cot. When she's in her cot I'm next to her on a mattress, so I can just reach through the bars of the cot when she needs reassurance, or to go hunting for her lost dummy. Tbh it doesn't seem to matter too much to her where she sleeps, the co-sleeping is mainly for my own benefit when she's having a particularly bad night and I'm too tired to get up and lift her out of her cot for feeding all the time. I hope the transition goes smoothly for the two of you, fingers crossed it's going to turn out less of an issue than you expect!

Was goi g tosuggest what pinky said, also where does he nap in the day? You could try napping to gradually get him used to it iykwim? X

He sleeps in the bed for naps at the moment but I'm planning on putting him down for his naps in the cot when it arrives x

This worries me too, I don't sleep so well with him next to me in case if wakes a crawls or rolls off the bed! Kynon starts the night in his cot in his room but I get sick of going back and forth so he then sleeps with me. I need a magic sleep wand!

That's my worry! He's sleeping well in his cot attached to my bed at the mo and he rolls all around it lol he was across it in the top corner this morning facing the wall!

YIKES cot arrived today, wont get a chance to put it together until tomorrow BUT tomorrow will be the first night in it, kinda scared lol

Only time he stops crawling now is when he is asleep, all he wants to do is crawl x

Goodness! Tyler's moving about a bit. I'm confident putting him in a cot in the daytime it's just night!!!

how has he settled hun?

We co sleep. S sleeps in her cot until we got to bed and then anytime between 1-4 she will come in with us depending on when she wakes up. So i guess its half co sleeping lol.

Thanks ladies, he is asleep in the cot still so far, I have it pulled next to the bed but side is on, feels weird not having him in the bed with me but really hope he will stay in the cot and get used to it, will let you know in the morning xxx

He did great, slept until 6:45am moaned for his dummy twice but apart from that all went great, took me agessss to get to sleep without him being in the bed with me xxx
