Hi

This doesn't apply to all areas but this site offers a nappy laundering service for North West England and North Wales

http://www.cottontails.co.uk/index.html

The local authorities apparently offer funding to encourage people to use this service so they give you ONE MONTH free trial via the local authority You can apply using the CONTACT page on the site.

Does anyone have any experience of these services....we are going to try it.

interesting link.. thanks for that.. i think in the long run compared to washing them yourself, it costs a hell of a lot more to use a laundry service.. as you need 2-3x more nappies right now we have 25 nappies and wash every other day. but i have to be honest.. theres nothing prouder than pegging out your sparkling clean nappies on the line :D

The website says it costs a little over £1 per day.

I dont' know how that compares...

I just dont think I can face washing them all myself.

washign them is nothing.. the washign machine does it for me.. lol.. sorry im with nicola here.. i love washign mine to.. lol.. sorta.. satisfying lol..i know it sounds weird..b ut i guess u can only relate if you are doing cloth??

A friend of mine used that service in our area. She said she got them back and found some were not hers, some of hers were missing, they ended up looking ratty from the large washers/dryers etc, in the end she started doing them herself and said she felt they came up cleaner and she felt happier about washing them and knowing they were properly cleaned and all hers etc. She complained to them on a number of occassions but nothing ever got done about it.

Nicola thanks for that info.

I'm now considering washing them myself.

I don't have a tumble dryer though and we're a bit short of money to be buying one.

hmmm...

Also, browsing online I discovered that they've put the business up for sale.

THat is apparently public knowledge because its clearly advertised.

Honestly now, washing the nappies are not hard work. Dafydd is in reusables since out of hospital at 4 days and ive not used a dispi since.

I take the dirty one off him, chuck it in a bucket and then wash them every other day. put them in the machine before bed on a night wash (when leckie cheaper lol) and then peg em out the morning after. The pocket nappies dry in no time.

Even hubby does the nappy change and he says it's no different, apart from chucking the dirty on in a bucket instead of a bin.

We don't have a tumble drier so we made sure we got nappies that dry easily. I think kittykins rate the drying time

We've got bimbles mostly, which we love but would not be as much of an economical purchase as they are small. We figured as long as she uses them for a month they are cheaper than diposables and to be honest, we're not bothered about cost. We've also got fluffles, which are very cute, will last longer and are currently on offer on lots of websites as they are being discontinued. We also have wonderoos but they don't fit very well yet.

I like washing Morgans nappies.... I like seeing them all on the washing line all clean and nice, and i like stuffing them too.

I wash every other day and TBH all you do is put them in and take them out, then hang them to dry, how hard can it be? LOL! Mine dry in about 2 hours and the liners overnight so i never use a tumble dryer anyway!

They are easy peasy! :cheer:

I think you've all persuaded me to wash my own...

I'm really confused right now though and I'm actually tempted to use disposables when the baby is first born because I can't invest in all the nappies if they're the wrong ones! If the baby is here I can sample for the first month and then decide...

Fluffles look good but people reviewing them say they are too big...???

my idea would be.. either buy preloved as they are cheaper to test them out.. or just buy a day pack.. 1 wrap and 5 nappies to test them out.. it usually comes to about 50 quid i think.. if you dont get on with them you can sell them on again. most people like a shapped nappy with a booster. so if you got those you wont be going far wrong.

i find nothing more satisfying than cloth nappies.. they arnt a chore at all..

for 5 of our nappies and a wrap posted is £40

if you are interested in perhaps 3 nappies and a wrap let me know im sure i can help you out with a bargain xx
