Just wondered how much, if any, cow's milk you give your LO's above the age of 1? Isaac has cow's milk on his weetabix in a morning but that's it, he has one 9oz bottle before bed, and it's HiPP 10+month formula, not cow's milk. After looking into it there's just so little in cow's milk, I prefer to give him a yoghurt or some cheese over it, wondered if anyone else did the same, and when did you drop that bedtime bottle? I don't mind if Isaac's still having one when he's 3yrs old to be honest  Seriously though, how does that one get dropped and do you replace it..bit clueless to the last bottle dropping

Im unable to help... but I too would like to know re. the last bottle :)

Do you give Isaac a bottle first thing on a morning too.. Cos Id like to know when people dropped that bottle too :D

Oran had cows milk from something like 10 months beacuse at that age he refused any forumla milk but even if he was drinking formula I would have switched at 12 months anyway - I don't see the point of waisting money on formula money making products (i. e follow on milk) when he can have cows milk instead as now he is eating properly he is getting all the other nutrients he needs, he also has yoghurts and cheese in the day. To me cows milk is more natural than Man Made formular and if they would have said he could have had it from 6 months I would have probably given it to him!

Re the last bottle, I switched orans to a sippy cup about 2 weeks ago as all he did with the bottle was mess, I figured it was maybe cause he has all his other drinks out of a cup, the cup holds 6oz and mostly he has nearly all or all of it but occasionally he doesnt have any and just tries to feed it to me, I don't worry about it. at the age he is now and because he is eating proper food the bedtime milk is just really a drink now, and something he associates with time for bed, its not a source of nutrients anymore. Ill give him bedtime milk out of a sippy cup till he is ready for a proper cup then it will go in a normal cup and he can have it as long as he wants, we always had milk before bed cold in the summer and warm in the winter so I dont see it as a problem. Id rater him have a drink of milk before bed that suguary cordial or Fizzy pop (he wont drink water!)!

ds went straight onto cow's milk at 1 year, the last box of formula ran out 2 days before his birthday and that was it! He has cheese & fromage frais too, so plenty of milky stuff. He has a pretty balanced diet too, & is nice & healthy so I didn't see the point of spending money on formula.

As for the bottles, we switched to beakers when he turned 1. He still has milk to drink every morning with breakfast (but prefers his cereal dry) and every night before bed. I sometimes give him some in the afternoon too if he's struggling to go to sleep, but that's not very often.

With Lydia from 11.5 months we started mixing cows milk with her formula in the same bottle. Like so:

days 1-2 1oz cows milk with 8oz formula
days 3-4 2oz cows milk with 7oz formula
days 5-6 3oz cows milk with 6oz formula
days 7-8 4oz cows milk with 5oz formula
days 9-10 5oz cows milk with 4oz formula
days 11-12 6oz cows milk with 3oz formula
days 13-14 7oz cows milk with 2oz formula
days 15-16 8oz cows milk with 1oz formula
day 17 cows milk

So by just after her 1st birthday she was purely on cows milk, having the same number of bottles as she did previously with formula.

I haven't started giving Alex cows milk yet as he is breastfed, but hubby wants me to start doing the same thing to him (only with expressed milk) but I don't think it will work as he isn't used to bottles at all - he only drinks breastmilk straight from my breasts! So I'm not sure how I'm going to tackle his switch. Anyway I want to wait until after his birthday to introduce any milk other than breastmilk because I want to have breastfed 'exclusively' for a year.

Well Imogens been on cows since 11 months! she has had milk in her cereal and had yoghurts, cheese and other dairy products and has been fine with it.

Stephen didnt drop his bedtime bottle until he was 3, a bit late but he had his reasons. Im guessing my daughter will be 2 plus too as she loves her bedtime milk

me again!

Maia has hipp follow on for breakfast (5oz) and then hipp goodnight milk (7oz) at bedtime.

My HV said I could switch her to cow's milk at 10 months , he only reason was that its cheaper. But when I compared the cost of Hipp formula with cow's milk there really wasn't much difference, so I decided not to bother!

Maia loves her milk, especially the bedtime bottle, she breaks into a cheesy grin when she sees it! So I don't really think I'll stop giving her it unless she stops wanting it.

I moved Tom straight on to cows' milk when he was one.
I didn't bother mixing it with formula, just made the leap and he didn't seem to notice.
If he hasn't had much milk during the day, I'll give him a yoghurt and cheese too to make sure he's getting enough calcium.
Tom still has a bedtime bottle and I don't see that's going to change any time soon. He loves his bedtime bottle and it's part of his routine. I guess, soon, I'll give him a beaker instead but for now we're sticking with the bottle.
Lxxx
PS: Tom has one 8oz bottle milk in the morning and one 8oz at bedtime. x
